I heard this song last night after watching Arcane. And after listening to it on repeat, I felt the lyrics really resonated with Sayaka, Ritsuko, and Nadya.

Hold the die, your turn to roll

(The scene shows Nadya working alongside the sisters in their respective laboratories when they all worked for Chuohku.)

Before they fall through your fingers

(Shows Sayaka handing in her resignation to Otome, before walking away.)

Not a good night to lose control

(Shows Nadya and Ritsuko working in the lab. While Nadya is immersed in her research, Ritsuko looks over her shoulder at her friend, a frown on her face.)

Right as the earth is unraveling

(The scene shows Nadya arguing with the Prime Minister over her removal from the company.)

You play with your blocks until they break

(As Nadya is escorted out by security, she passes by Ritsuko, whose expression is empty, save a small smirk on her face, which Nadya catches as they pass by, a look of shock on her face.)

And these walls come tumbling down

(Nadya is literally thrown out of Chuohku, whilst inside it shows Ritsuko being put in charge of Nadya’s research.)

Oh, they’re tumbling down

(Shows Nadya inside her house, which is a mess as she has trashed it in anger and rage. Suddenly, three Ramuda clones break into her apartment, prepared to tie up any “loose ends.”)

You’re out of time, make your move

(Shows Sayaka in her house, sitting in her living room, a serious expression on her face. The scene changes back to Nadya and the clones.)

Live or die while the fuse is lit and there’s no turning back

(Nadya pretends to surrender, but reveals she is holding onto a hand-held switch with a red button. The clones try to stop her, but with rage and anger, the scientist presses the button, enveloping the entire scene in red, yellow and orange as an explosion goes off.)

Kiss your perfect day goodbye Because the world is on fire

(The entire house is shown in flames as chaos erupts, with people running around, and law enforcement tries to maintain some order.)

Tuck your innocence goodnight

(Sayaka who is watching the news, drops the glass cup she was drinking from, which breaks upon impact. She puts her hands over her mouth, as tears fall from her eyes.)

You sold your friends like guns for hire

(Ritsuko, who is also watching the news, appears expressionless, but suddenly smirks before laughing whilst drinking from a wine glass.)

Go play with your blocks And now you’ll pay when these walls come tumbling down

(The scene turns into a rainy night, as through the fog comes someone clutching their bloody stomach in an alleyway. It is Nadya, who is leaning on the wall for support, a look of anger on her face, as she is breathing heavily.)

Oh, they’re tumbling down

(She makes it out of the alleyway, only to finally collapse in front of a startled Aika. Back in Chuohku, the Prime Minister stamps something on a paper in front of her. It is Nadya’s former employee file for Chuohku. On the paper in bright red is the word, ’Terminated.’)

Resting on a knife, you heavy souls

(Ritsuko is seen speaking with the Prime Minister about her involvement in the D.R.B.)

With all this weight buckling down on you now

(Likewise, Sayaka is seen sitting at her kitchen table as she has received her letter for joining the D.R.B.)

Don’t you drown and float away

(Both sisters are seen speaking to their team members, asking for their help in joining.)

Not a good time to lose control Right as your marionettes cut their strings and run away

(Riots are seen throughout the divisions, holding picket signs, opposing the government. As Chuohku tries to maintain some order, a lone figure wearing a Mardi Gras mask observes the entire spectacle from an alleyway, smoking a cigarette. Smirking, the figure turns and walks into the alleyway, disappearing.)

(Ritsuko is again seen in the Prime Minister’s office. The scientist is handed something by the Deputy Prime Minister. She looks at the papers uninterested, but soon her eyes start to open and her expression becomes shocked. In anger, she throws the papers back onto the Prime Minister’s desk, upset. One of the papers reveals the figure of Nadya Kuromiya, marking her as the primary suspect behind Chuohku’s recent problems.)

(Sayaka is shown kissing her daughter goodnight as she is sleeping in her bed, peacefully. She smiles at her before turning and leaving the room.)

Because the world is on fire

(Ritsuko is seen in her lab, looking at Nadya’s lab notes before angrily throwing them on a counter, and leaving the room.)

(Sayaka is seen kneeling at a gravestone with her eyes closed, as her hair blows in the wind. She soon stands up, and looks behind her at her teammates, Lola and Kureha.)

(Ritsuko is seen walking in front of her teammates, Miho and Sumire, as she leads CodeX to the stadium in Chuohku.)

(Likewise, Nadya, with her Mardi Gras mask on, is seen leading Oculus to the stadium, a look of determination on her face.)

(Finally, Sayaka is seen leading Femme Fatale, a serious look on her face, as she clenches her fist. A close up of all three women’s faces are shown as they all arrive at Chuohku.)
