The Mafia Community in York New City Explained

There is little information on how mafia communities work in HxH, even though they have been a huge backdrop in certain arcs (e.g. Mafia in York New City arc, NGL’s Underground Drug Cartel in Chimera Ant arc, the Kakin Mafia Families in the Succession Contest arc). 

I am going to explain how the Mafia Community in York New City operates (potentially), using what I have observed in the HxH series and also references from real-life Mafia in New York City where Togashi could have potentially got his inspirations from. 

There will be 3-4 more parts of the mafia in HxH.

• Feitan and Chrollo could found a reading club tbh

• just leave em alone w their books and they’re fine

• Chrollo is that one mom that only starts giving a fuck when there’s a serious problem

• if not, come back when there is one

• Phinks is always flexin and showing off his strength

• he often challenges the others to arm wrestling

• mostly Feitan

• they challenge each other the most, for example w how many ppl they can kill in a certain amount of time (like shown in the greed island arc)

• they are also the ones who are most likely to get silly (w Shalnark)

• well, Fei is (in a twisted way ofc, but silly), Phinks just becomes angry and tries to fight him

• when nobody’s up to Phinks‘ challenges tho, he’s working out (eg lifting weights like the bodies of his victims...)

• Shalnark is the one who hates boredom the most

• he will always suggest all kinds of games (either existing ones or he just comes up w smth himself)

• when he’s in an especially annoying mood, he occasionally uses his nen ability on one of the others usually Phinks to make them do or say some stupid shit

• at first, nobody notices (at least when it’s Phinks bc well, it’s Phinks)

• Pakunoda sometimes asks Machi to show her how to sew

• Machi is a bad teacher tho, she’s just like "that goes there then this goes here.." *quick, impossible-to-follow hand motions*

• so Paku politely thanks her and resorts to getting some magazines and trying to teach herself how to knit

• only if Machi isn’t around tho bc she doesn’t want to upset her

• Kortopi and Bonolenov are just kinda there

• I am still convinced that they are having quiet conversations that nobody notices

• Shizuku just rolls with whatever one of the others comes up with

• she forgets abt it afterwards anyways

• Nobunaga basically always gets in fights w everyone

• especially w Uvo ofc

• which annoys the whole troupe since Uvo is just sO DARN LOUD

• like boi we get it ur big and strong but kEEP IT DOWN SOME OF US ARE TRYING TO READ/KNIT/WRESTLE ETC

• Franklin is, similar to Kortopi and Bonolenov, just kinda there

• but he cares less

• except the others are especially annoying, then he will often get involved by telling them to throw a coin or smth and shut up (mood)
