Before the Japanese had even seen camels they had read about and fantasized about them through Chinese literature. The camel was accorded a status much like the unicorn had in medieval Christendom. References about camels occur frequently in erotica. (Japanese for camel is “rakuda” and “raku da” means “feel comfy”.)
