#you write like

It’s been a while since I last tried out the “You Write Like” engine.  I don’t even remember what I was told back then.  This time around, I figured I’d try out a couple of my stories, as my voice and writing isn’t always the same.

The first story I tried, “What Large Teeth” is a fractured fairy tale and came up as Jane Austen (probably because of the use of the word countenance).

I checked a couple of my dark fiction pieces and could not be more delighted that “The Beach” and “Deputy Death” came up as Stephen King (who was definitely an influence in my formative years).

This is a fun engine that looks at language choices and patterns.

I haven’t done one of these “You write like” things in ages, and while I don’t remember who I got before I am pretty sure it wasn’t David Foster Wallace.

Just for information, the text I used for the analysis is an upcoming fanfiction, from Mo Dao Zu Shi (is a Xuexiao).

I just tried it using my short story ‘Why Is It Always a Mirror ?’ (can you even find it on tumblr anymore ?) and that’s the result.

Not sure if it’s accurate though, probably far from it XD

But it was fun, i reccomend trying it if you write stuff, be it original stuff or fanfics, if only to see.
