Do it for You

I am a firm believer that some of the most hurtful things you hear in life come from the people you love the most. I want to learn a language. I expressed this to my grandmother. She replied “For that boy you are talking to?” Why was I thought to only want to learn a language as a means for someone else? The lesson learned: You are more intelligent than people will deem you to be. You do not need intellectual validation to pursue something you are interested in. They do not know what you are capable of. If you attempt to pick up a new hobby or follow your dream, and find yourself doing this for a particular reaction from those around you, perhaps that hobby or dream is not truly meant for you. Do not do things for validation or praise. Do it for you.

You do not have to feel obligated to explain to others why your life matters (In reference to Black Lives Matter and counter movements against it; the infamous and ignorant “All Lives Matter” and the other equally as obnoxious “Blue Lives Matter”.

(Because like seriously these half-assed movements didn’t exist until the human rights movement: Black Lives Matter became known. AGAIN. HUMAN. RIGHTS. and we’re still explaining this in 2023)

As a BIPOC You do not owe anyone as explanation as to why something is racist or inherently racist considering its an umbrella term.

Being sensitive to racism or racial prejudice does not make you “soft”.

No matter what you are never alone in the fight or lifetime!

Theres no such thing as victim mentality in response to racial injustice.

There is no Black on Black crime considering Black people or any other race doesn’t kill other just because they are of that race. These are proximity crimes that could be related to environmental circumstances. NOT race-based.

Anyone can get therapy it doesn’t matter who you are. If you feel like you need therapy then get it. But if it doesn’t work for you try some alternatives like journaling, Or express through art and music.

You are safe.

You are enough.

You are loved.
