In 2007 for a school assignment I wanted to photograph people eating (because of behaviour & awkwardness I guess). My prof was like “oh you know Martin Parr, right?” (One of the few times he gave any input...) Of course I knew him. It also happened that I read about him coming to @haus_der_kunst in Munich for a talk. So I thought how funny it would be (and a “in your face” for my prof I have to admit) if I also could photograph Martin Parr himself eating... I was young and naive and emailed him if I could realize this idea. To my surprise he answered quite fast saying he would be short on time but “... bring a banana and you can photograph me having a bite.” 🍌 Honestly I wasn’t sure if he was making fun of me or was being serious but I thought, whatever, took a train to Munich and brought the banana. 💪🏼 When I saw him I went to him and said: “You are Martin Parr, right? I’m the girl with the banana.” He was friendly and said we should do the photos after the talk, which we did and well, he also gave me the rest of the banana back, so I wondered if anyone would be interested in Parr’s DNA and if one could sell it to crazy people on ebay. I decided to throw it in the trash can, however. My prof didn’t show me he was impressed but I was happy. Some peole later asked me if this was my uncle. I’m thankful to Mr Parr and my youthful courage ♥️ #eatmorebananas #bananas #throwback #photography #portrait #martinparr #storiesofmylife #courage #youngandnaive #anartistslife #memories #reflections #bananas onnect #fun #thankyou (em Munich, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bl7r-2sB-yD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ppmow3mj3rb4
