My Story....
So I get asked and judged a lot about being a young mom. Yes I'm young but I am an adult. I got pregnant at age 20 by my boyfriend/ now fiance of 6 years. Our son was no accident or oopsy. He was 100% planned. Why so young? Here's my reasons into the whole baby process. 1. I was diagnosed with leukemia in April 1999 and with lots of medicine and chemotherapy I had my very last treatment in October 2001. I was told that I may never be able to conceive because chemo could have messed with my fertility. Very devastating news. 2. I was on birth control from age 16 (for both protective sex & period control) So with my reason in number 1 and being on birth control for that many consecutive years, my possibility of conceiving a child was becoming more and more slim. 3. I have never wanted anything more than to be a mom. So my fiance and I decided together for me to come off of birth control and try for our first child. It wasn't long after that we found out I was pregnant. It felt so great to know I still could be a mom. And yes maybe he'll be my only, but I was still able to be a mommy. A dream that i worried would never come true.
