Your Reason, Wry E. Character Ch2

Wry looked about his home. It was nice, spacious, well kept, and the furniture was expensive once upon a time.

His father had left for the mainland years ago. He had left behind a five year old son and young wife.

Wry's mother was killed by a capall while she was showing tourists around.

They had had some money when his mother was alive. She was a tour guide and the tourists tipped her well, she was kind and beautiful with a sob story the mainlanders always ate up. Some of the businesses paid her handsomely to take the tourists to their shops as well. She made enough to keep them alive and comfortable. That was more than most on the island had.

But now.. now Wry had absolutely nothing. He was running out of money left to him. He was struggling to find work. He wouldn't work his mother's job, he couldn't. Wry had no people skills to assist in tourism.

Wry was just another orphan this island had chewed up and spit out. He had nothing to his name other than the house. He refused to sell it. It was his families.

That's why he knew.

He knew he had to win the races. He had to. He wouldn't have the money to keep his home, his clothes, his memories. He just wanted his life to stay the same as it had been. He just wanted to keep what was his and still be alive.
