Her expressions here shatter me.

Eva is going through a million emotions here. Still tries to be strong for her little boy, to guide him, to hide him. Then she's sad for a moment. I think Eva knew there would be no return from this, that she would die out there looking for Vergil and she did it anyways.

She might have even thought by logic that Vergil was dead by this point. That this was futile. And this was why she told Dante to hide and change his name instead of looking for Vergil.

But her parental side couldn't ignore that if there was even a chance her other boy was alive, she would go and find him. She would drag Vergil's corpse back if the worst had happened. Eva never gave up even if that killed her. She threw the chance of survival away to save both of her boys.

I wanted to draw something thoughtful with V from Devil May Cry 5 for quite a long time. So finally yeah. Also I love his familiars, I am happy to found a composition to draw both Shadow and Griffon (sorry Nightmare not this time) :D While I was drawing this fanart, I was listening to the song "Woodkid - Enemy" and some lyrics from it strongly associated with V and in general with Vergil. Personally it was super inspiring. I noticed that many of my favorite songs are associated with DMC lol
