“It’s late.  Shouldn’t you be asleep?”

Tbh, this is probably Kensei chiding his partner for trying their hardest to stay up to see him when he’s coming back from a mission, or from a late shift or whatever.

Kensei probably just wants to come home, maybe have a soak in the bath or a snack, and then crawl into bed beside his s/o and cuddle them until he falls asleep

and then he comes home and finds out that s/o has been trying their hardest to stay up. 

Maybe they didn’t quite make it and they’ve fallen asleep in the living area, on the couch or the floor with a book, with a cup of coffee gone cold beside them. 

Or maybe they are (barely) awake, rubbing their eyes and drinking an obscene amount of caffeine to stay awake

Kensei is a little :( to see s/o not taking care of themselves properly, but also really touched that they’d try to stay awake for him

he gets s/o and himself tucked up into bed for some cuddles and sleep

I think that if this happens a lot a few things will happen

he’ll have a serious talk about not staying up to late with s/o - he can make up for the lost sleep in other ways (like if he’s on evening shifts for a while, it means that he can sleep in the next morning, or he’ll have time off after a long mission to rest), but s/o probably needs to be up early most days, so they need the sleep! 

He’ll also try to do stuff to make s/o not worry. Like sending a message home when he’s on a long mission or come and visit s/o on his meal break if he can.

I can also see him doing stuff to make s/o a little more comfortable. Like a body pillow for them to cuddle or even a plushie version of himself for them to snuggle with. 

I also see the other visored finding out about the Kensei-plushie doll. They probably don’t tease s/o about it unless they know that s/o is thick-skinned enough to handle it, but they give Kensei a bit of teasing when they hang out with him.
