How it feels hearing a take on an infamous/commonly disliked piece of media that isn't just the same regurgitated take of "It's cringe", "it's fans are weird", "the artstyles kinda ugly, man" "if you like this media then you are a cringey awful piece of shit" and it's clear that the person did research and has some nuance to their take
Thing I texted toby that I want to share
big fan of this guy. just some old doodles i've done of drew <3
Dumb and incoherent yap incoming don't mind me
Holy fuck in the newest dankyjabo video about Lily Tino and he's crashing out the entire time, and any other time I would be like what the hell but this time I completely understand. My man is being perfectly reasonable with saying that 90% of hate Lily is getting is basically transphobia. He's just saying "hey she ragebaits and maybe is a tad weird but she doesn't deserve to be dragged online so much". And he's getting bullied by chat about it. One guy said he's defending a pdfile. Like??? Where?? Chat has no critical thinking. And don't even get me started on the ablaze video Jessie is watching. Ablaze is just transphobic and weird and mean and illiterate. Also ablaze can't read a 3 paragraph article and used an article by the most transphobic author (who is a trans woman herself) I've ever seen. Jessie is visibly cringing the whole time and it's both funny and concerning. My man here is defending trans people to the moon and back and everyone is being weird to him about it. I don't even blame Jessie for screaming and getting heated. Cuz genuinely ablaze is just transphobic, I literally just got to the part of the video where he's straight up saying shit things. And Jessie is genuinely going insane and honestly me too, I too am running around my enclosure furiously.
There's literally no reason to bring up Lily Tino anymore. She left, came back a bit better, maybe is still a bit cringe and weird and ragebait-y, but nothing criminal or terrible, just not liked by many people. We need to just leave her alone.
Something was bothering me about how YouTube commentary is running right now, because people are missing or adding details to important stories that don’t make any sense… and I realized that a lot of people are just stringing TikToks together until it sounds almost like an intellectual thought, which is becoming recursive, which ends up sounding a lot like ChatGPT, with hallucinated details or missing context and that’s what I’m noticing
So a lot of it is not coming from chatbots but it doesn’t matter, because the way the content is constructed is exactly the same, just more or less human intervention
this is gonna sound insane but as a fan of danny and drew and kind of a fan of kurtis when you have watched all of them for a long time you start to notice their different localized sayings and phrases, because they all live in different parts of the us/canada. the one that comes to mind right now is that danny uses a lot more of "pep in your step" than drew or kurtis and i don't know if it's a danny thing or a midwest/surrounding chicago area thing. i'm from the pnw and i don't think i've heard people use that saying that much unless they were not from here.
kinda getting tired of those “video essays” that take a trend/behaviour that’s pretty exclusively a TikTok/online phenomenon and make it seem like it’s a new societal issue to watch out for.
“the i hate my bf but won’t leave him epidemic”
“the tiktokification of classics”
“Tiktok DESTROYED hobbies”
“chronically online kids taking over sephora”
listen to me—no, listen to me. this is not a video essay. it is barely even commentary. this is a reaction video to an online trend. algorithms silo people away into specific distinct corners of the internet and these micro-issues they see there do not apply to the human race at large. GO OUTSIDE
