you know what pisses me off
the people that cannot for the goddamn life of them, believe in anything they haven’t personally experienced
“poor people aren’t that bad off”
“police brutality in America isn’t a problem”
“racism? what racism”
“homophobia? whatever they don’t wanna marry like actual couples”
“do trans people really exist or are we just humoring them?”
Like, there are dozens and dozens and dozens, a wealth of oppressed people that have told their stories, done their research, and said, “This is a problem.” And somehow, still, people don’t believe them. What exactly does it take??
I understand a lot of it is the backfire effect, it’s people that don’t want to look beyond their tiny bubble because that’s hard, because that would require them to change and be considerate and examine their own beliefs. But I don’t understand why people aren’t willing to do that?
Why do you care about some abstract concept of right and wrong if it unnecessarily hurts and kills people? Why do you put your own selfish ego above the needs of millions?
Who are you to believe you're righteous? What strain of arrogance does it take to be so assured of your own pathetic morality? It is folly. You are a silly child that still believes you can cry long enough to be acquiesced, that because everyone else has given up, you are right.
If you can't believe what you haven't experienced, then suffer. I hope someday you feel the worst of it, if only for a moment, to regret being so selfishly foolish.
Grow up.
