Alphinaud for character asks plz. :)

First impression

God, who let this child out of his room? The way Alphinaud acted when I meet him in ARR reminded me of a child. One that has been home tutored all his life in politics and international relations, but never on stranger danger or looking both ways to cross the road. He is pretty much the embodiment of a lot of kids that went to my old school back in Vietnam.

This means for a good chunk of time in ARR, I was more than ready to pick him up and launch him into the sun. (╬ಠ益ಠ)

Impression now

SE have given him a lot of good scenes both those that show his mature side and the comedic value of certain traits. A part of me do mourn his loss of innocence after the betrayal of the Crystal, but it only makes the moments when he reaches out and do good for people (Kai Shirr and Yugiri are good examples) all the more uplifting. 

Now I can side with people who sees Alphinaud as a little brother to the WoL, mainly because I have a little brother of my own.

Favorite moment

The moment he decides to open his big mouth in Il Mheg about how something reminds him of his childhood. Alisaie looked ready to to beat him to a pulp for such a comment!  (*≧▽≦)ﾉｼ))

Idea for a story

For Alphi, I want to write a story about his time in Sharlayan. How he grew up, what his life could have been like with his sister, then studying at the Studium with Krile. It’s on the back burner since we don’t have a lot of information on most of these other than trying to snoop out what remains in the ruins. 

Unpopular opinion

I’m not too sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I prefer to keep Alphinaud in his currant state as a young elezen. I understand that eventually an adult model of him will have to be made, but the twins current form feels like it balance out how tall same of the other characters are. A strange reasoning, but I just prefer them short. 

Favorite relationship

SE has showcase his relationship with his sister so well in ShB and I only wish to see more. It’s definitely reminisent of the bond I had with my brother and I would love to see them in the same space more often. Both in fanfics and in game. (ﾉ `･∀･)ﾉﾞ

Favorite headcanon

Alphinaud has a sketchbook filled with everyone he has ever met. The pictures of Yugiri and Gotetsu that he has given out is actually a replica made from what he has drawn in his sketchbook. My HC is that he never intended to reveal that he was a good artist, it was something that he used to keep track of where he has been and with who.

First impression

Oh, now Lyse - well, Yda at the time, I adored. Plus I had hc’s that she and Ahru got along splendidly from the start, both getting into trouble and hijinks and sparring with one another. So yeah, she was a lot of fun from the get-go.

Impression now

Adore her all the more. SB in retrospect was hit or miss in certain places for me, but I loved Lyse’s growth from the end of 3.X well into 4.X, and I am just so, so very proud of her. Boy do I miss her as a Scion though, and imagine how much fun it’d have been having her along for our adventures on the First ; ;

Favorite moment

Hm, she has a lot of good moments throughout SB especially, I really liked her talks with Hien and her growth during the little arc in the Steppes. Sparring up in Rhalgr’s Reach felt... so good for her and Ahru, considering how far they’d both come from just tussling about and crashing into crates at the Waking Sands and getting yelled at by Papalymo. ; w ;

Idea for a story

Now I’m just kind of musing over ideas of an AU where she did come along on the First and what she’d have been up to or how she might have impacted certain scenes. I think it’s pretty important she’s still in Ala Mhigo and taking care of business on the Source, but it’s fun to think about!

Unpopular opinion

:|a idk if I have one... But all the hate she gets is pretty meh. I get it if a character just isn’t your cup of tea of course, but some of it definitely edges into the same misogynistic territory of hate Minfilia got and that is some fine grade bullshit. 

Favorite relationship

Her and Y’shtola, and I once shipped her with Hien briefly cuz that was interesting, but I like their interactions in general just for what they are, platonic or otherwise. Her relationship with Papalymo was, of course, such a defining one for her.

Favorite headcanon

As seems to be the trend, it’s more relevant to my WoL than solely about Lyse, but like I wrote above I loved her and Ahru just generally being BFF’s and training or getting into mischief.

Wedge x Tataru — They’re cute. I’m not sure I totally ship it because sadly Tataru doesn’t appear to be much interested in him. It’s pretty one sided :C but I could see it being adorable! I think their personalities could be compatible.

Dragoon x floor — I prefer myself x the floor tbh so I gotta say it’s not a ship :////
