About half of my day working from home was spent binging yuri manga that I hadn't read before. Here's my thoughts on them:
Keiyaku Shimai - A story following an otaku office worker entering an "older sister" contract with the high-school-aged waitress that she idolizes. I absolutely LOVE a series with mysterious emotional manipulation and so much romantic tension that you could cut it with scissors, and this series delivers. Bonus points for being comedic without being a gag manga and keeping the relationship clean (so far... I could see this one taking a problematic turn in the future). 8.5/10
Childhood Friend, Big Love - You've seen it a million times before, two childhood friends that loved each other get separated and reunite in high school, different than before. It doesn't have a lot of content so far, so the story still feels very shallow. 6.4/10
Itsuwari no Marigold - Weird period piece where a girl's brother dies, then she assumes his identity to make sure his blind girlfriend is happy. Pretty strong trans vibes, lots of bad feelings and complex situations, not quite sure where this story is headed. 7.2/10
I Won't Let Mistress Suck My Blood - Girl takes a job as a maid in manor, turns out the headmistress is a vampire. Not much to say about this one; there's gay vampires and horny neck biting. Only one chapter right now but I am on board and easy to please. 8.2/10
Boys Who Get Between Yuri Are Better Off Dead?! - The current first chair trumpet girl falls in love with the transfer girl who ousted her from first chair, but the new girl makes out with random dudes? I think? This one is another one with not a lot of material available at the moment, so the premise hasn't really kicked in yet. 5.8/10, +0.5 points for a kickass title
The Skirt Sings at the Landing - HOOO BOY this one is GREAT. A tall girl who is dysphoric about her height named Kiki (nicknamed Kii-chan 👀) typically is the lead in her ballroom dancing classes, but she secretly wants to be a bottom the follower (it's like it was written specifically for me...) Anyway, her long-time dance partner calls it off with her, so Kiki finds a new partner: a short girl who insists on topping being the lead. I LOOOVE this manga and I HATE that it's bi-monthly. My only hope is that it releases chapters on the opposite monthly schedule as Asumi-chan, but I have a feeling I won't be so lucky. 9.8/10
