Meet Yuujin Dalaich-Shulibain: Prince, Punk Popstar, Pisces
I’ve been thinking a lot about Yuujin; prince, punk pop star, Pisces because I’m restarting my WIP Terra Obscura. Yuujin has existed in my head since I was in sixth grade - me and my friend David used to pass notes in the corner of our classroom and we started to write this little fantasy story. Back then, he was the evil prince with a secret heart of gold, which isn’t that far from who he is right now.
Currently, Yuujin is someone whose heart/arc is up for grabs. He feels deeply dissatisfied and trapped in his position as the second-born child in his dimension’s First Family; unable to experiment or explore his own identity. He’s deeply repressing all these feelings because he doesn’t want to further burden his overworked and severely mentally ill father. But sometimes, baby boy is juvenile and fed up; and after his sister goes missing + he’s expected to fill the role of heir... he snaps.
This is how he lands on Earth - he tries to escape Tarantia, his hometown, by train and barely survives a hijacking. He jumps out of the moving train after being stabbed, and somehow falls through enough dimensions to land in Lake Lagunita (an artificial dry lake basin @ Stanford).
Yuujin’s voice is unique because he pays sharp attention to his surroundings, but he doesn’t like to afford the world much kindness. He’s quiet, broody and mysterious; but he’s just as quickly curious and quirky. He’s an electrical engineering major at a military academy, a politician just by experience, and he’s someone who tried very hard, for very long to hold it all together.
His journey (or what I’m making him suffer through) is silent n violent awareness of how the world fails him and his loved ones; how his nation and people are responsible for settler colonialism, exploitation and genocide; and how he is individually culpable for what his father n grandmother have done. He suffers immensely and deeply, not because of cruel accident, but because he chooses to become better.
This time around, Yuujin won’t be narrating till the end, because I think that we need him to exist in silence, without sharing insight on what spiritual transformation he’s undergoing until the end.
(Also! Once upon a time, Yuujin was a Scorpio. Happy Scorpio Season!)
DGS1&2 fanarts (mostly random sketches)
I wanted to see Barok smiling in the game so badly.... but unfortunately that didn’t happen. that’s why I had to draw it myself.
Mikotoba family dialogue time!!! (dgs2 no big spoilers)
Susato: I may as well say, my dream for the future is to live alongside 2 cats.
Sometimes it’s better to let some things forgotten.

Scribble commission for my friend and co-writer, Yuujin. They’re her OCs, Scarlet & Hiiro.
