they r 3 besties and they love each other and they hang out and they eat goldfish crackers when there's no monsters attacking the city <3
also not that anybody cares but the inconsistencies in leo and yvvas designs from sketch to sketch is bc Leo's scar is meant to look different depending on where the scene takes place in the story, and I don't imagine yvva chilling with her mask, boots, and gloves on very often so im in my head like "what makes sense for her to be wearing in this circumstance?"
redesigning yvva for absolutely no reason except her cape skirt was getting annoying to draw and made NO SENSE!! she’s so pretty and colorful i love her
this is old so Leo's profile looks ugly
Earlier that day, Carmen showed her the docks that were almost always empty. She said she’d seen a flash of light there just a couple days before she saw Yvva fall from the roof near her work. She expected to see another super to bring back to her father, but there was nothing. Yvva was barely paying attention, but she did enjoy watching the waves roll over one another. She sat down cross-legged on the wooden platform, and rested her cheek on her shoulder.
As she began to play with the water, pushing and pulling the waves with a slight of her hand, she noticed something strange. She pulled the water up higher in front of her, and saw what looked like a hand peek out a little. She sat up straighter, startled. Was there an entire arm in the water? Still holding the wave up, she crawled forward and grabbed the hand, pulling. It was heavy, it must’ve been a whole person in there. She heaved the body towards her, and onto the dock. It was a young man, completely unconscious. His lungs must’ve been waterlogged. She motioned her hand above his mouth and made a grabbing motion, drawing the fluid out of his lungs. He coughed, and opened his eyes. Now that he was actually awake, she noticed a pinkish scar that ran from his forehead, across his right eye, and down to his neck. The eye the scar cut through was pale and grayish, with scratchy white lines in the iris.
“I was gonna pay for them!” he mumbled, his eyes darting about until they landed on Yvva. “Who the hell are you?”
Not a very nice way to introduce himself, but she expected to pull a corpse out of the water. “I'm Yvva,” she replied. “What were you going to pay for?”
“What?”
“You said you were going to pay for something a minute ago,” she said, helping him sit up.
“Oh… nevermind,” he said, more awake now.
“Do you not remember anything?” Yvva asked, scrutinizing his face. “What's your name? What do you remember last?”
He flinched and squinted. “The name's Leo, and I don't know why your peepers are glowing like that but they are burning my eyes.”
“Oh!” Yvva turned away. “Sorry, people don't usually say anything.”
“It's alright, I'd just like to be able to see is all,” he rubbed his eyes and then opened them again. “Oh- you've got wings. Am I dead? Are you some sort of servant of the Lord?”
“I don't know what that means,”
“An angel, is what I mean. Although, an angel would know what I'm trying to say, so maybe not.”
“Oh! Well, you're not dead, no,” she said. “Can you walk?” Yvva asked, standing up.
“What do you think, Lady? I should be helping you-,” he said, but he struggled as he attempted to prop himself up on the railing. Yvva rolled her eyes and held out her hand. He begrudgingly accepted it and she helped him up onto his feet.
“Yvva!” He saw her turn towards the sound, her eyes a piercing light through the fog and rain. She took off like a bullet.
“WHAT.” She said as she approached. Leo looked over at Carmen, who nodded with understanding. She grabbed Yvva’s hand and pulled her into a hug. Leo joined in as she thrashed against the display of affection.
“This is for your own good!” Carmen said. “We love you!” Yvva furiously threw them off of her. Leo fell backwards, catching his fall with the palm of his hand. Carmen wasn’t so lucky, and he heard her cry out in pain upon impact.
“What happened?” he shouted over the storm as he stood up.
“I think I broke my ankle,” she groaned. Leo turned to face Yvva again.
“She’s our friend! You love her! Doesn’t that bother you?” He said, grabbing her hand again.
“Let go of me. Now.” she growled.
“No! I don’t want to lose you again! I love you!” Leo shouted, tears streaming down his face as he desperately searched for something in her expression. She stared at him long and hard, her yellow hair soaked and hanging heavy around her cheeks. For a second he saw it. Was it recognition? Softness? He wasn’t sure. She stopped pulling away as her eyes closed and she began to fall backwards.
“Leo, she's going to fall off the roof!” Carmen shouted.
Leo pulled her back, stumbling as he tried to support her weight under his arms. A few moments later she opened her eyes again.
“Leo?” she said weakly, as Leo helped her stand up again.
“Angel! It’s you!” he said, pulling her into an embrace before looking into her eyes. Before he knew it, his lips met hers, and for a few seconds it felt like there was nobody in the world but the two of them. “I thought I would never see you again…” he said softly as he pulled back to look at her.
