In this post, I talked about how horses are found on Coruscant, Dathomir and Endor, so I figured it was about time to draw some Dathomirian horses, featuring two of our favorite brothers, Savage and Feral.

I think that relay racing or bareback racing would be a big thing there - what better way to prove your strength and endurance than managing a horse at full speed with hardly any aids to help you stay on? Hence the Aurebesh - Dathomir Extreme Sports!

Just rewatched the Clone Wars season 3 episode "Monster."

Did Savage Opress think Ventress was choosing him as a mate? That's definitely what the other male Zabraks in the village believed. They say as much when Anakin and Obi Wan come looking for answers about Savage, who's been out terrorizing the Jedi.

The Selection, which Ventress invoked, seems to be the process by which a Nightsister chooses a male Nightbrother when she wants a mate, or to have children. Not sure what happens to the Nightbrother after that, but I would assume the Nightsister keeps him around if he proves satisfactory as a mate/whatever else that role entails.

So from Savage's perspective, he's about to become Ventress' mate, have sex with a woman for (probably) the first time, and perhaps have some children. Instead, he gets roided up on green ichor, brainwashed, and made to kill his beloved brother Feral.

That's rough. 😢

I was confused about the marks on young maul's face so I cracked open Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia (2017) which is a canon book, since this was the one cited by wookieepedia and it turns out the male Dathomirian Zabraks do have markings AND tattoos. This is page 123 of the book. Keeping regular zabraks in my screenshot for the contrast.

I’ve always imagined zabraks as being born with blobbish markings that are tattooed over later to define/accentuate them. And nub horns

I bet zabraks impale small food items on their horns to save as treats for later.

Maybe they have horn jewelry to hang on them as well.

Or hell! Maybe they developed a form of currency that's kinda rings, and they'd just keep their money on their horns as a natural wallet. It'd be hard to pickpocket rings on the front horns.

It'd be just like how ancient greeks had money shaped like rings that they kept on strings.

Hear me out: Since nightsisters don't have horns, but non-dathomirian female zabraks do have horns, Maul spends all of his life just quietly assuming that all the female zabraks he meets outside of Dathomir are trans. He sees one, he learns her pronouns and he's just like: "Okay, whatever she says. Good for her, but none of my business."
