A look at Siren designs for the FFVII fic Ravenous using Angeal as a model, who will be introduced in later installments of the series. This is my first time doing anything for MerMay, fanfiction or otherwise, but it was fun playing around with it, and I really like how this turned out!

“Are you a dancer, my dear?”

The question catches Cloud off-guard. He raises an eyebrow. “Never once in my life.”

Andrea sighs thoughtfully. “Combat and dance are far more closely linked than you might think, Cloud.”

Never More Than A Pair of Beating Hearts

They move so perfectly together, and Zack can’t help but think that the love in her eyes when she looks at him is something that can’t be faked.

They’re adorable, honestly. Zack wishes he could be happy for them, and he would, if not for the throbbing ache in his chest.

Tifa and Cloud have known each other most of their lives, and been dancing together since middle school. But that level of dedication to one’s craft is all-consuming, and leaves little time for anything else. Even love.

As she speaks, Cloud feels his heart sink into the floor. Every word feels like an additional shard of glass in his skin.

“This is discrimination,” he finally manages. She just shrugs.

“This is our policy. If you are unhappy with how we run things here, you are free to seek employment elsewhere.”

Now he’s caught between following his heart and following the rules, and one misstep could cost him everything. It’s a good thing he’s got rhythm.

Excerpt from a fic I'm writing:

"Imagine that," Zack laughs, leaning against the doorframe. "Cloud Strife, savior of the Planet, destroyer of Sephiroth and Jenova, slayer of dragons and sea snakes and other monsters..."

Cloud glances up at him just to see those Mako-blue eyes, a perfect mirror of his own, glistening with amusement as Zack finishes his thought. "Vanquished by a fitted sheet."

Cloud groans, dropping his head onto the mattress. "Shut up," he mumbles. "Are you just gonna stand there making fun of me, or are you going to help?"

BETA WANTED

Okay so none of my other fanfiction friends are actually in the FFVII fandom, and I'm struggling with getting back into the writing game, so if there's anyone out there who wants to beta for me I would really appreciate it.

The job entails:

helping me figure out plot points

helping me improve writing quality in specific areas

proofreading + checking for SPAG issues

smacking me upside the head when I'm being an idiot

yelling at me to write when I'm unmotivated

listening to me ramble about the fic and / or discussing it with me until I feel inspired to work on it again

and most importantly, NOT letting me turn this into another unfinished WIP on the pile of sad dead Word documents in my Dropbox

Requirements:

bodily age of 16 or older

a discerning eye and a broad vocabulary, including the ability to spell English words properly the majority of the time

an email address or Discord user + tag you are willing to share with a complete internet stranger

patience and adaptability to deal with my various psychiatric disabilities (such as my BPD + autism, which make me very sensitive to criticism. I promise I'll explain the most effective way to provide feedback that won't set off my RSD)
