What a wonderful night to acknowledge that the man who voices our beloved Barcus Wroot also voices all of these characters:

And more. His name is Dario Coates, and according to casting director Samantha Béart, he had the most lines and spent more time in the recording studio than any VA, including those for the main companions. If you hear the voice of any NPC, there's a good chance he's voiced by Dario. He definitely deserves some well earned recognition! ❤

Round 1 — Match 12 / 18 — Tambourine vs. Zambomba

"Hello, servant ape. Would you kill those rats, please?"

Tambourine is a blue-eyed, medium haired white cat in Act Three.

Tambourine can be found in the Elfsong Tavern kitchen of the Lower City. When spoken to with Speak with Animals, Tambourine responds with a request to kill rats, stating: "Their presence vexes me." Otherwise, Tambourine simply meows at the party.

"I deeply respect a cat who has apparently been “hired” for rat control and is just absolutely not doing that. Lives in the Elfsong kitchen, treats everyone like staff, and still somehow acts like you’re the one failing expectations. That is elite cat behaviour."

Zambomba is a medium haired grey cat with yellow eyes in the Lower City of Baldur's Gate.

Zambomba can be found inside or behind the kitchen of the Elfsong Tavern. The party can speak with Zambomba using Speak with Animals, where they are requested to kill some rats.

"Honestly I prefer Zambomba to Tambourine a little because Zambomba comes in hotter. Tambourine feels like a lazy manager; Zambomba feels like the one who clocks you walking in and immediately starts assigning duties. The energy is so rude and so cat-like that I can’t even be mad about it."

Impro Instrumentos Tiene huevos la cosa

Salí al barrio de Sagrada Família con la bici y regresé en taxi. El objetivo era adquirir una serie de instrumentos de percusión que me permitieran sintetizar los sonidos soñados para nO wAY bASTARDS: zambomba, pandereta, pandero, crótalo y huevo.

En Musical Fusté me atendieron con amabilidad y finalmente salí de allí con todos ellos. Cierto es que la zambomba la había reservado previamente, y me la trajeron de encargo. Esto es debido a que sólo se venden por Navidad. El instrumento ha entrado en desuso.

Aquí un vídeo con los diferentes instrumentos, los cuales probaba a la brava, sin tener demasiada idea de cómo se utilizan profesionalmente. La canción 'Tiene huevos la cosa' aún no la controlaba 🤣 Por cierto, que el harpa no la adquirí allí, queda claro!

El reto después sería el de componer una base musical con todos estos instrumentos y añadiéndoles sonidos producidos electrónicamente!

Daily Instrument — Zambomba

The zambomba is a Spanish friction drum played in flamenco. As tradition, during Christmas time people hold festive gatherings to play the zambomba and sing Christmas carols. It has a barrel shaped body with a membrane stretched on top. A wooden stick is attached to the membrane, and is played by rubbing the wooden stick with a damp cloth.

This is what it’s like to be in a true life Spain cultural outing. My neighbor Teddy organized these bus trips around different parts of Spain. This excursion was La Zambomba which is a Spanish style drum, with accompanying music, singing and dance in Spain. One of the best things about these experiences is getting to be in the thick of it. Getting to really see what Spain is like at its heart, and how the people really are. In this video I put together you will see the beautiful scenery at the Cortijo, the different bands and singers, and how the people filling this restaurant banquet hall participate in dancing and singing. It’s robust, it’s fun, and the people really enjoy their Spanish heritage! This video I made really encapsulates the essence of Andalucían culture through dance and song during Christmas time!
