This weekend was a long weekend because Friday was a holiday in Wallonia and Brussels. So, Friday morning, we went to Zandhoven which is a small community near Antwerp for a horse competition. I don't really know how to describe it other than it was like a horse-and-cart obstacle course. My host-parents competed against the best "cart" in Belgium!!!
Anyway, Friday we sent up the tent. It was very cold in the evening and I thought I was going to freeze to death, but Aude assured me that it was nothing compared to the Belgian winter. (so not keen for Winter) The next morning I woke up at about 7:30 when nobody else was awake. I decided to take the dog for a walk.
Not a bad photo if I don't say so myself
The rest of the day consisted of riding the bike to-and-from various horse venues. I spent the best part of the afternoon brushing the horse. It was pretty fun, actually.
I think my bike-riding skills have improved dramatically, I'm expecting massive leg muscles soon.
Me touching the horse: one of many untucked-shirt photos
The horse (these photos are for my horse-loving friends okay)

Very dramatic-angled horse
That evening I watched my host-parents go in the actual horse competition and ate some really good chips and mayonnaise. The next day, Sunday, I got up late and did a lot more bike-riding. My legs were pretty dead. More looking after the horse, and another competition. My host parents fell off the cart which was really scary. But they're okay, apparently it's not that uncommon. After that, we packed up and went home.
Camping here was quite different to Australian camping, and I tried many interesting packaged goods.
Bolognese or Pickles chips, anyone?
Friday was a pretty difficult day because it was 1 month exactly from my family. But I can deal with my homesickness much better now. I'm still positive and feeling good, everybody is kind and my french is somewhat better than last week.
Also, congratulations to Bruno for getting married!
Much love,
Evie
