On Christmas vacation with my wife!

I'm gonna be offline until about Monday evening, spending Christmas with my amazing wife, @luckyfirerabbit. I've queued up a few posts to keep you all entertained in the mean time.

People who know me also knows I hate anime twinks with a passion, but Josef is my exception. He’s the only twink on this blog who’s allowed to have rights. Yes, that includes Loki because Loki’s in gay baby jail right now and doesn’t deserve rights.

These sketches are rough as fuck, but I was struck with inspo to finally put modern Loki onto paper. We know so little about the relationship with Loki and Odin except that somehow those two stuck a deal to be blood-brothers, which is why the Aesir put up with Loki’s shenanigans for so long. 

The fact that they both are schemers, magic wielders, and pull off disguises while being Bros lead a lot of people viewing them like a con-man duo which I love with all my heart. Which makes things all the more tragic when Loki spirals into doing more heinous things leading up to Lokassena, Baldur’s Death, and eventually him getting imprisoned and tortured. 

I’d imagine Odin feels very bittersweet about the whole ordeal; day one from meeting Loki, he already knew all the bad shit that would come with him, yet he befriended Loki anyways. So many gods hate Loki and I can see them repeatedly asking Odin why him, but he stands his ground and makes sure Loki is welcomed like anyone else, even if that acceptance turns bitter in Lokassena. It could be Odin trying not to fight against fate, him accepting he might as well enjoy the ride before it all crashes down, or seeing a usefulness in having Loki around, but that doesn’t make this low hit any less harder. Odin loses his sons, his best friend, and the gods approach one step closer to Ragnarok. Such is the way of Norse mythology lol. 

Realistically, in my oc universe Loki would still technically be tied up on that rock, but I guess he could be using magic to project himself to interact with the larger world, which is a technique Odin also knows how to do, so it would make sense. These two would occasionally have shenanigans going on but Loki can’t stay around for long and there’s a new grim tension in the air between them. Shit’s ain’t the same anymore. 

Somewhere, in another AU, Odin and Loki get to continue their road trips on Midgard, conning some tourist out of 20 bucks without having a melancholic shadow over them.
