Not sure if I'm too late for the asks, but thoughts on Zelda and Gorgug?
Never too late for asks! They're always open!
And Zelgug?? Ohhhh that's an interesting one. I love them a lot! They're a very interesting couple and honestly a relationship that needed to happen. Especially for Gorgug. Young love, first love all rock and tumble.
Do I think it made sense that they broke up? Honestly yeah, I mean Zelda and Gorgug changed a lot right at the end of Sophomore year and going forward they are pretty different people from whom they were when they met and got together. Not to say that couples can't change together, or stay together during their teenage years. But it made sense for them to move forward. We know they ended up on good terms but Gorgug still kept listening to her mixtape lol, feelings don't dip that fast.
I know a lot of people criticise the whole Sophomore year thing with Zelda being 'unreasonable' but we have to remember they're teenagers, in, to us, unfamiliar situations. Like who can say they had a boyfriend who is going on an adventure across continent, where there's usually no phone service and think 'ah yes i wont be worried and my teenage brain wont make up some extreme situations where he'd leave me'. Not to say putting all that on Gorgug was fair either especially with Riz and Fig disappearing. But right from the start we had Gorgug's parents telling him that her worry doesn't mean it's invalid because it's not true, but also doesn't mean Gorgug is at fault. Two things can be true at once.
Zelda and Gorgug strongly showcase a first relationship, how a teenager's mind works. How personal insecurities influence your relationship.
They're great. But also my fave hc for them is that they maybe get back together a little later, or hook up and start talking again. When they're both more settled into their skin and are comfortable with who they are.
They're great and I love them. And honestly Zelda getting mad and putting Gorgug through those feelings mid dangerous adventure, and Gorgug constantly choosing between focusing on saving the world and trying to do something to fix it- is a great character development and relationship study.
