It’s rushed but it was fun to write and I tried. @pastelsandpining I did it.
Battle was raging in Hyrule as if it had never seen a day of peace, hordes of enemies stacking upon each other like a continuous stream of water.
Zelda supposed that this is what being caught in a current must be like, slammed by the utter momentum of wayward water and being caught mercilessly by the violent ebbs and flows. The princess hoped there was a way out of this torrentive war as she clung to Link’s tunic, but she couldn’t deny her rising doubts in their survival.
At the moment, they had come to a standstill in central Hyrule, the numerous monsters in the fields not only blocking Link and Zelda from reaching the castle, but Urbosa from reaching her Divine Beast. Impa was among them as well, insisting she tag along to assist in the princess’ protection and letting Her Highness use the Sheikah Slate Impa had previously borrowed.
Thus, although Link knew Zelda could handle herself using the runes of the Sheikah Slate, the two seemed to gravitate towards each other as they fought, ensuring with an occasional quick glance that the other was okay as Bokoblins and Moblins flew every which away from the advances of the four warriors.
The feat seemed insurmountable, conquering all these enemies four against uncountable thousands, but they fought with all their might nonetheless, Link blasting away at least six with a downward strike of his sword into the ground.
“Zelda!” He yelled as he sliced a couple blue Bokoblins back into the purple smoke from which they came. Link turned around and spotted her just as he ducked a Moblin’s swing, stabbing upwards into its red chest to see a silver Moblin with a yellow light and broken chains slam into the Red Moblin, knocking both monsters unconscious.
Link took no time to hesitate, taking the opportunity of her close proximity and grabbing Zelda by the elbow, a grab Zelda wasn’t expecting, but her eyes were on Link nonetheless,
“Zelda,” he had said, Zelda waiting for his next words impatiently as she heard the clangs of weaponry around them.
“Will you marry me?” Link asked, Zelda’s heart skipping a beat and yet her mind steady with the foolishness of the query. She furrowed her brow and popped open her mouth, searching him for any sign that he was joking until they heard the quick footing of an approaching Lizalfos.
“I don’t think now is the best time!” She argued as she watched Link slice off its head with a swift stroke. But that wasn’t the only Lizalfos approaching them, Zelda quickly blasting away a dozen with a summoned blue bomb while Link took down another Moblin.
“Now may be the only time!” Link countered once he found her gaze, with a candid smirk and a shrug that revealed his honesty and seriousness.
But he couldn’t keep her gaze for long, hearing the excited cry of a Bokoblin and turning around to slice three red Bokoblins off and away to disappear into purple smoke. Link ran to Zelda immediately afterwards, clasping her forearm and insisting to keep his gaze on her green eyes, those eyes that were peaceful in their hue, like the fields of Hyrule that had not yet seen war. She was his light, his love, and if he died bound to her, then he would have died with no regrets.
“I love you,” he stated ardently, with more sincerity than he was likely allowed. Zelda inhaled to answer, but battle was waging and the roar of a Lynel was so powerful it knocked them off their feet.
Zelda and Link ran to it together, Zelda keeping it in place with the stasis rune and Link striking it multiple times with the fully powered Master Sword. Link panted as the stasis broke and feared what to do next at the Lynel’s still alive state when it suddenly got penned down by Impa’s knives. Link took no time to thank the royal advisor, grabbing Zelda’s forearm once again.
“I’ve made my choice,” Link said before asking, stifling his fear. “What’s yours?”
Link waited in trepidation, in fear of her rejection and how it would sting his heart.
“Urbosa!” Zelda yelled, Link’s forehead twisting in confusion at her choice. Zelda looked over to the Gerudo chief, Link following her gaze to perhaps try and make sense of his confusion. “Marry us!”
Link looked to Zelda immediately and smiled, a joy rising in his heart unbefitting of their current predicament.
“I’m a little busy at the moment!” Urbosa yelled back as she handled her scimitar with equal parts grace and ferocity, handling dozens of enemies at once.
Link and Zelda were reminded they they were too as they parted way to fend off more enemies.
“Urbosa, now!” Link claimed as the fighting was getting more severe, fighting monster after monster and now unable to afford a break to look into Zelda’s distracting eyes.
“Fine then!” Urbosa yelled back as he stabbed a black Moblin, turning around quickly to behead a blue-striped Lynel.
Link and Zelda fought their way to each other in order to hold hands as they fought tirelessly.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today,” a Lizalfos attacked Urbosa quickly. “Some of us very much not invited,” she said as she blocked the attack with her shield and turned the monster into purple smoke.
Link and Zelda had no choice but to detach their hands for the next bout of enemies, Zelda activating the magnesis rune and slamming a large iron cube into multiple enemies. Link performed a spin attack on a group of silver Bokoblins before finally returning to Zelda, now facing each other with both hands clasped into each others.
“Princess Zelda of Hyrule,” Link started. “Do you take me to be your husband?”
“I do!” Zelda said with quick nods.
“Great!” Link said before immediately cutting down a Moblin about to strike Zelda, Zelda herself fighting a band of Bokoblins on Link’s prior side of the field. They conjoined hands as they continuing to fight.
“Sir Link of Hateno!” She exclaimed among the near-deafening sounds of battle. “Do you take me to be your wife?” Link spun her around his finger as in a court waltz as they reclaimed their corners of the battle field. “In sickness and in health, with health being the less likely.”
Link pulled her flush to his chest using their conjoined hands.
“I do,” he said, them affording the second to smile at each other just before a Moblin swung a club over their ducked heads. Both stood up afterwards and continued to fight for their lives, but more importantly, their love.
“As chief of Gerudo city,” Urbosa exclaimed, locked in combat with a silver Lynel. “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss—“
Urbosa was interrupted by having to block the Lynel’s weapon with both her shield and sword.
“You may kiss—“ She tried again, this time bit more strained as she resisted.
Link tried to make it to Zelda when an arrow narrowly missed his head. Link struck down the nearby Lizalfos archer before running to Zelda, dipping her and teasing their approaching kiss with his breath on her lips.
But they wouldn’t kiss then, Link looking up and noticing a Bokoblin aiming an arrow at Zelda. Link pushed her aside to block it with his shield before striking that Bokoblin down as well.
“You may kiss—“ Urbosa couldn’t finish again, having beaten the battle of strengths with the Lynel but now trying to ware it down to its dying point.
Zelda and Link were now completely caught in the battle, fighting whatever they turned their heads to that they aimed their weapons of choice at each other, Zelda blocking Link’s sword with a magnified shard of iron.
“Just kiss,” Urbosa finally commanded, only able to afford a snap of her fingers.
The enemies around Link and Zelda erupted into shocks of lightning, exploding lines of yellow trickling around them as Link and Zelda pulled each other into a quick and desperate kiss, their lips meeting with depth and with passion, arms entailed and locked. They did not cease as Urbosa’s Fury continued, Link dropping his sword completely and cupping Zelda’s sweet and soft face with both his hands.
Their lips and tongues were playing a different game than the one that surrounded them, one that they wanted to play, one that made them want to run away from all this and enjoy their marriage until the oldest ages ever recorded in Hyrule. The continued to kiss because they didn’t want to stop, because they knew that out of it was the reminder of the grass they stood on.
The grass they stood on that minute by minute seemed to be their deathbeds.
Wedding Day <3
Knowing Link, his Royal Guard Uniform is the only truly nice pair of clothing he owns, so he thinks it is acceptable to wear to his wedding like a dork. xD
The sun shone with a beautiful splendor, streams of light glittering and shining down from the sun above, as if the golden goddesses themselves couldn’t help but express their joy.
Even the gentle breeze, the rustle of the leafy trees, the flowers in bloom that floated petals up to descend upon the pair of Hylians, made the scene so picturesque that the people who sat in watch were just silent in awe.
It truly was the most beautiful anyone had seen the base of the statue of the goddess, a warm smile shared by all at the union taking place.
Link clasped his hands into hers, after spending the last few minutes completely mesmerized by her beauty as she stood there with a smile, her blue eyes shining with the sunlight.
“Zelda,” Link started, “there were times where it felt like an eternity until I got to see you again, and there were times I feared I never would. There were so many things that pushed us apart on that fateful journey that it was hard for me to believe in hope, to believe in anything. I knew well that it would be so much easier to give up, to stay in Skyloft, and to forget you, but that was never an option. I’ve known from the very beginning, Zelda, that I would always remember you, and I’ve known for a while now that you are my soulmate, that you hold my heart in a way no one else could. It wasn’t until I summoned the courage to love you that I realized that the love we share is our forever, our infinite bond. That no matter what happens, it will always be my deepest truth. So, I promise to you that which I have always wanted, to make you happy, as long as our forever.”
Link smiled and Zelda’s cheeks had grown to a deep blush, yet she either didn’t notice, or disregarded it, starting her own vows in his silence.
“Link, we both know that our future spells a different path than many others, that our destinies are built upon the goddess’ eternal wish. In that way, our future beyond our years is cloudy and uncertain, much like the future of Hyrule, at this very moment. But the forever instead, what will bind us beyond that, is the love we share. If Hyrule becomes a kingdom, I will be your Princess, your Queen, but beyond that I promise to be your Zelda, forever and always. From now until eternity I promise to love you. If forever is possible, than I know you are mine.”
The two shared warm expressions as their eyes started to water, only tears of happiness escaping them.
“The people of Skyloft,” started Owlan, the officiator of the ceremony, “proud of perseverance, who revel in hope and aim to always be the best of themselves, have always had within themselves the celebration of three unbreakable bonds.”
“A familial bond, strengthened by blood and heightened by a kind touch and a soft hand.”
“A bond of friendship, with our Loftwings and with our fellow kin, paired by joyous spirits and laughter, paired by loyalty, and paired by generosity.”
“The third we celebrate is the one that binds two souls, and that shares two hearts. The bond of love, wedded in its’ presence and conjoined in it forever. It surpasses the formers in celebration, but never excludes them, for all the bonds we share are connected in serene and beautiful ways.”
“So, by the witness of the Goddess Hylia and in her golden land of Hyrule, I proclaim the wisdom, courage, and power of this union to be true and honest.”
The Instructor beamed a proud smile at the two, knowing well, as much as each person in attendance, how much their love had survived, and how strong it was even now.
“It is my honor to now announce you, Link and Zelda, wedded, under Hylia’s soft smile. May her happiness be yours, forever and always!”
Hollers of cheers ensued when Link and Zelda’s lips quickly found each other, both their hearts warming with joy and thankfulness.
A commission I did for @jdetan, featuring her headcanons for a Hyrulean wedding! I was SO excited to draw this, actually! OoT Zelink deserves a happy ending, and I really believe this is one version of that. :) And the clothes were SO fun!!
This commission was specifically done for JDetan's fic on ao3, A Destiny, Retold in Time. It is rated M, but solely for language and violence. The premise alone is quite the hook!
Time Elapsed: 4 hours, 44 minutes
Program Used: IbisPaint X
Feel like commissioning something or just leaving a small tip to support me? Check out my Ko-Fi page! ₊‧⁺˖
My contribution to this year’s Valentine’s day. I‘m a day late (the original post on DA was a day late, this is a re-post), but this took way longer than I thought it would and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Valentine's day xD So the thing is, the Zelda BotW trailer gave me an unusual amount of Zelink feels and I also felt like drawing fancy clothes so combined both things and this is what came out of it. My guess is that this takes place a few years after the events of HW. Also I wanted Ganondorf to wear some kind of traditional Gerudo clothing, but in the end I was too lazy to come up with something. I’m generally not very good at coming up with clothes, but if it’s for a male then it’s even worse. I have no idea what they should wear ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also Fi’s in her human form so she could dress up for the occasion xD
Anyway… I was on a roll so while I was drawing I came up with a bunch of additional headcanons for the wedding:
-There was a dancing competition that Ghirahim and Fi won. It wasn’t an actual competition at first, but Ghirahim made it one.
-Volga can’t dance and was embarrassed about it, but Cia dragged him out on the floor anyway.
-Midna danced with Zant but only because he was the only one that knew any Twili dances.
-Ganondorf’s competitive spirit made him want to join, but he didn’t have a dance partner. In the end he challenged Impa’s dancing skills and she danced with him to prove a point. They were surprisingly good.
-Wizzro showed up uninvited and ate half of the buffet during the ceremony. He had the decency to leave the cake untouched though. When asked about it later he claimed that it was too sweet for his tastes. No one really believed him because he had eaten all of the cream muffins which were the sweetest thing on the menu.
-The sugar overdose made him all giggly and hyperactive. He also had the brilliant idea of catching Zelda’s bouquet in mid-air and swallow it before anyone could stop him. This led to him being chased by the castle guards. Zelda was worried if she should do something about it, but Volga and Cia said it was fine. It would wear off eventually.
-Everyone decided that the first bouquet throw didn’t count so Zelda threw another. It hit Ganondorf directly in the face. He’s convinced she did it on purpose (even though she swore she didn’t), but he said he deserved it so he wasn’t mad.
-Link couldn’t stop grinning.
-Darunia cried.
-Proxi cried as well.
-Ruto decided to prank Link by asking him if the marriage would affect the days he would have their kids over. Link almost had a heart attack, but Ruto, Lana, Cia and Ganondorf found it hilarious. Linkle didn’t get it.
-She later got lost in the castle while trying to find the bathroom.
-Wizzro stopped for a moment to laugh at her before continuing his run from the one guard that was still following him.
-Lana was the one that found Linkle in the end.
-Impa stunned multiple people with her beautiful hair, but she didn’t care. It was a special occasion. Also she secretly likes the sparkles.
-Fi held a long speech about the future of the kingdom and the freshly married couple. It was well thought through and beautiful but most people got somewhat bored after the first 15 minutes. Ghirahim applauded the loudest.
-Random guard Ron was also there. He was the one chasing Wizzro.
-Agnetha came with all of her bug friends which all wore tiny, festive clothes like bow ties and top hats. The grasshopper jumped on Volga’s shoulder scaring him which led to him setting the table cloth on fire. Ruto put it out before much damage was made though.
-There were also fireworks.
-And everyone had fun.
