the more I rewatch hart of Dixie the more I get upset about the relationships 😭

George and Tansy definitely should’ve been endgame, especially as a mirror to Zoe and Wade. George and AB were rushed and lacked chemistry, I seriously can’t stand that they were endgame. Plus AB deserves more than ending up with the guy that Lemon was with for half their life.

AB deserved THE WORLD. We first got introduced to her as wanting a baby with her husband, then when her husband left and she ended up finding love with Lavon and wanting his babies, she got her heart broken again. She was one of the best and underrated characters and deserved a love that was her own and got the babies she wanted !

Plus she did SO much for Lavon in the 1+ year that they were together and imagine how crushed she was that he put Lemon’s 6 week affair above their 1+ year relationship. Also green is SO her color.

I do however like Lemon and Lavon as well- it seemed like they were set to be endgame from the beginning. Their season 1 ‘will they, won’t they’ was incredibly palpable and I just couldn’t help but to root for them and love how he brought out the best in her rather than George.

Also even tho I love Zade always and am so glad they were endgame, I still would’ve loved to actually see George and Zoe get together and have a full relationship for once. I think season 3 would’ve been the perfect time instead of Joel (he’s a sweetie, but felt so wrong for Zoe) and Zeorge’s ending probably would’ve been when Wade started dating Vivian and Zoe loses it.

Basically justice for AB, the potential of Zeorge (not to be endgame ofc), and George and Tansy.

Things that don’t make sense at all in Hart of Dixie (mainly 3rd season onwards):

- Zoe and George acting like they never had feelings for each other. Zoe literally stayed in bed crying and eating ice cream for her inappropiate feelings and had wet dreams with him, and George left his girlfriend of 15 years at the altar for her! I mean, c’mon. The first two seasons is basically the writers telling us that those two were soulmates.

- Lavon and Annabeth breaking up (just because I shipped them so hard).

- Lavon having feelings for Lemon again OUT OF NOWHERE.

- George having feelings for Lemon again, then finding out it was non-sense. What a waste of time, like the writers didn’t know what to do with his storyline.

- Lemon sleeping with Meatball. I think this is self-explanatory.

- The completely existence of Jule and his relationship with Zoe. I mean, I liked him, he was really nice. But nothing of that made sense, he didn’t even seemed right for Zoe! And season two ends with the mayor cliffhanger of Zoe with the Breeland cousin (something really interesting if you ask), and he just vanishes after that!

- Wade cheating on Zoe aka the girl he’s been pining on for a long time. HE MADE HER THE GUMBO GUYS!!

- Annabeth and George. Wow, one of the most forced couples I have seen in a tv show.

- Lemon saying Lavon is the love of her life. I mean, he was literally a six months affair while she was engaged to someone else (I’m sorry I’m AB+Lavon trash forever).

I love Hart of Dixie with all my heart! But the last seasons feel so strange for me. Like the writers didn’t know what to do with some of the storylines. And even if I like a lot Zade, I loved Zoe and George. They seemed so right for each other! Also, I hated that they never made Annabeth truly happy and forced her to the male main character available at the end.

As someone who has just finished watching hart of Dixie for the first time, why did the writers choose the pairings they did in the end? Do we have any insight on that? I agree with you that the show has heaps of good pairings. But I’m just glad they went with lavon/lemon, that just seemed fated to me from the start. But George could have been with Zoe, tansy or annabeth and either of those would have been fine! I even liked joel!! I wouldn’t have had a problem if Zoe ended up with him either

Personally, I could have gone with Lavon/Lemon or Lavon/Annabeth, but as far as Zoe’s love life...

The plan was meant to be Zoe and Wade date, Wade cheats, and George and Zoe get together in Season 3. But, the writers felt the chemistry was so strong between Bilson and Bethel, they decided they wanted to steer away from Zoe/George, because they wanted a Zoe/Wade endgame, and they wanted people to keep rooting for that. 

Zoe and George were actually supposed to reignite during the Season 2 episode where they play Romeo and Juliet; they were meant to kiss and both feel things. But, as they were writing that episode, they were watching footage from the episode currently shooting (I can’t remember which one it was) and decided they couldn’t do it, so instead, they let the relationship with George die, pretty much for good. 

It’s wild, and I will never, ever understand how they didn’t give those two a shot. It would have made such a good storyline for George to show up in NYC at that wedding for Zoe, and had Season.3 be dedicated to that romance--even if she went back with Wade in the end. 

As far as George and Annabeth--I don’t think they were a bad pairing, they made sense, but it was rushed, which made it feel underwhelming.
