I think theres something interesting to note about wemmbu's pov in unstable.

He's not someone who does lore or takes lore seriously. See season 1, a lot of it was simply fighting, trying to get better, get revenge, but not really telling a story about the world itself. His episodes are pvp focused and he often avoids lore.

Eggchan on the other hand, actively seeks out lore. He has a notebook with all the information, he readily explores locations. He's really the one who points wemmbu in the direction of lore. I think the most obvious example is the jadan episode where egg specifically seeks out information about the underground city.

And i think it's a perfect balance and a perfect example of show, not tell. Wemmbu's character will never acknowledge the deeper issues/feelings behind his place in the server, that's just who he is. ntentionally or subconsciously, he will avoid thinking too deeply about things. He will never acknowledge why the maces are so important to him. How his stint with zam affects him to this day. He'll ignore the impact rejoice made on his playstyle, despite keeping the sunflower in his enderchest. Always do first, think later.

And when you dont stop to think about it, it's very superficial, surface level. Like there's no deeper meaning to it. And i think that's the trap a lot of viewers fall into, that wemmbu is just a pvp focused, no lore, not very interesting, repetitive pov.

What people miss is that egg is more than a comedic relief. He's the thinker, the one who holds wemmbu back. He stops to consider various options and is averse to jumping into danger. Egg shows wemmbu's story through the lore, dragging his friend through the world, looking for meaning. Inadvertently showing wemmbu that theres no hiding from it, no matter what. Hes the compass that will eventually point wemmbu in the right direction.

The theme of repetition, of past becoming present, cant be ignored. Egg's thirst for lore will push wemmbu to finally acknowledge his feelings, the cycle hes stuck in, and that something needs to change.

The Vox and Alastor parallels kill me every time they were MADE for each other in the way that they can't LEAVE EACH OTHER ALONE!! even after Alastor rejected Vox, they literally just became rivals instead of just ignoring the other. Alastor went out of his way to be a nuisance to Vox.

Of course, I get it on Vox's end - he's downright obsessed with Alastor and still admires him after decades, so he really can't leave him alone - but Alastor has no reason to stick around other than a bitter grudge and to just be a thorn in Vox's side. He fucking hates Vox's guts and he just ragebaits him for the love of the game. Vox responds exactly the way Alastor wants him to. They actively push each other to the limit. Radio and Video can coexist without affecting the other in a crazy way, but it's at the fault of these two freaking GAY MEN that they decide to intrude in on each other's mediums. Alastor remembers their past together and BTW USES THE EXACT WORDS THAT VOX USED TO COMPLIMENT HIM ALL THOSE YEARS AGO! HE PULLED OUT THE WORD "INSPIRING" LIKE HE GOT THE MEMORY ON SPEED DIAL!!! They both know each other so well that they just gotta be in each other's general vicinity huh

The theory that Wemmbu is turning into uu!PrinceZam floats around a lot and I think so too, but in a different way. I don't think Wemmbu wants to rule the world and keep people under his control. I think that's more of Spoke's goal. I think Wemmbu's different.

I think Wemmbu, despite his status as a killer, craves peace. That's how his Season 2 started in the first place, an attempt to live out their lives in a little house millions of blocks away. He's tired of the fighting, the chaos, and can you really blame a man for wanting retirement?

His main priority is Eggchan. What Egg wants, Egg usually gets (even if it comes with snarky remarks and friendly jabs). Whether it's peacefully fishing, or leading their own empire, Wemmbu wants Egg safe.

His quest for power isn't just to be the strongest on the server, but to also protect those he cares about. From what I've gathered, he wants to gain the power the mysterious forge can give, not in a power-hungry attempt to rule the world, but so that no one can mess with him or Egg ever again. Wemmbu knows he's inadequate, especially after all the losses he's been collecting, which means he can't protect his loved ones well enough.

My previous post I mentioned that Wemmbu's morals are deteriorating, but I feel like his goals have stayed the same. Protect those he cares about through unwavering violence so no one can get between him and his friends again. But his methods of gaining that power is becoming questionable.

And that's what makes him so similar to Zam. The cruelty, becoming an unstoppable force. Getting what he wants no matter what, at any cost.

I wonder if Egg will be able to hold him back, or if the compass will crack under Wemmbu's power.

Flame and Being Teammates

Ohhhh this is a long one... I didn't see many people analysing Flame's latest episode so I did it myself. I have So Many Thoughts.

The distrust Flame has for strangers, no matter how helpful vs the unquestioning trust he places in those he has history with, even in the face of betrayal, is certainly something. Despite everything Lomedy did to help Flame, he was abandoned at the end. While Jaden, who acted shifty all video, was given so many chances.

Flame values strength and independence, that much is obvious. These values guide his every decision. Is a potential teammate strong enough? And can Flame complete the mission by himself? Usually, the answers are no and yes. Flame also shows care and concern in the form of violent protection and scathing words, just like Wemmbu. Push people away so they'll stay safe.

But unlike Wemmbu, whose confidence in protecting those weaker allows him to put others in danger (hell, look at what Egg's been through), Flame is selfish. And sure, Flame has the ability to protect a weaker teammate, but that's just going to get in his way. That's why, before the final fight with the toxic clan, he says to Lomedy:

"Dude, if you come with me, you're going to die! I fight best by myself. You can't come, like you're just gonna die. Like you can fix your base, that's what you need to do."

Refuse and insult (you can't come / you're going to die), make the situation less serious (his nervous chuckles), and deflect (fix your base). And if that doesn't work (Lomedy brings up his ex-teammate with a big ego), justify your choices ("I'm not like your teammate and I'm not your teammate" / "I fight best by myself") and force your decision ("and I'm going by myself bro").

He cares though, he truly cares, because he promises to return the mace to Lomedy, to make the trip all the way back. Flame knows how special the mace is to Lomedy, and even though he doesn't care for maces, he makes the effort to reassure Lomedy he'll come back alive.

And I believe that history matters a lot to Flame. He's just met Lomedy, even though he's kind, Flame doesn't Know him. He can't trust yet, not so soon. He has the paranoia of someone hunted and the awareness of a warrior. So, it's no wonder he left Lomedy behind.

But when it comes to people he knows, people who can fend for themselves, well, Flame's attitude changes. His guard is lowered, he asks for help. He puts his trust in them. Back to strength (can they handle their own?) and independence (can they thrive alone?). If both are a yes, Flame sometimes even puts his life in their hands.

Exhibit 1: Wemmbu Can he handle himself? Yes, of course. He may not be the best in melee PVP, but his ability to wield the mace makes him a force to behold. He's quick and scrappy, able to get out of sticky situations (even if he needs help from Egg). Flame doesn't have to worry about protecting him. Can he thrive on his own? Yes, no doubt about it. He's resourceful, he can survive on little. Sure, he brings Egg everywhere, but Egg isn't very good anyway, so his contribution isn't much, probably. If Flame leaves Wemmbu, he will be fine. Teaming isn't so much a problem.

And spurred on by the dysfunctional team (who do not meet the strength and independence criteria), Flame betrays. But what about Jaden? Why betray without a second thought?

Exhibit 2: Jaden MAN Can he handle himself? Absolutely. He has some PVP skills, he can hold himself in a fight. Hell, he leads the pirates, so he has leadership skills and can command a team. And has proven that he can be trusted to help Flame.

Can he thrive on his own? See the pirate team. He has others to help him, even if they aren't as capable, numbers in a fight can make all the difference. If Flame leaves, Jaden will survive. He's resourceful and has a way with words.

So Flame leaves knowing Jaden will stay alive.

And Flame, who's confident in Jaden's ability to be able to leave him, believes Jaden when he says there's no hard feelings. Because to Flame, leaving someone on their own is a compliment.

It's why he doesn't see Jaden's betrayal coming, or maybe he does, but his guard is lowered, and makes excuses to his shiftiness. He makes no comment on Jaden's diamond trim boots, maybe because Flame gave him the benefit of the doubt. It's just diamond boots anyway, no big deal.

But his paranoia keeps him on edge and he has to communicate with Jaden. Flame accuses but wants the answer to be "I'll be by your side" (ironic, for someone who never stays). So he believes Jaden, just for now.

Until the excuses run out, until the betrayal hits him straight in the face, and Flame can't run from the truth anymore. He lets the Law live because they're not a threat anymore. Jaden is.

The one he trusted, the hands he put his life into. His strategy falls apart. How can he trust anyone now?
