Y'know when I say "these 2 are the most interesting morally grey characters I come across in fiction" I then show you these 2 that are such a total whiplash & tone but it's one of the reasons why I find them very fascinating as characters

Code Geass Canon Divergence AU

Suzaku wants so badly to be Lelouch's Knight. To see Lelouch in the regalia of a royal prince and to bear his colors in a knight's uniform.

But he can't. >:( :< Sad Suzaku.

Then the SAZ, Euphemia and Zero enter the stage and raise their hands together, signaling unity.

Then blood purists attack, including some military, pretending to be terrorists. And suddenly they're working together with Zero whom Suzaku learns is Lelouch. (Some part of him knew already.)

A new uniform for him - not quite Black Knight, not quite Britannian Royal Knight - but a third new thing, unity of Britannians and Japanese, the SAZ. Not quite what Suzaku had hoped for, that is still to kill Emperor Charles and crown Lelouch, but it's -... it's Lelouch's royal colors with Euphemia and Lelouch's combined symbol on the cloak and back. And given Lelouch's exile, it's as close to being his Knight as Suzaku is going to get while still honoring his oath to Euphemia and his people as their protector.

Despite his dream collapsing before his eyes, Suzaku wears the colors, the new uniform, with a smile on his face. His sword reforged once more, in Japanese and Britannian style, designed to protect and defend.
