I was at a party once (in ancient times before IG stripper pics were normal). A group of folks we're standing in a circle chatting. The conversation turned to jobs/careers. It's NYC, so a mix of artists & business careers. My turn: "I'm a stripper"! *HUGE bursts of laughter erupts* Me & my then girlfriend look at each other & smile. Did they laugh because they thought that being a stripper was so aspirational that I couldn't possibly be THAT high on life's totem pole? Did they think strippers are so awful & I seem way too "respectable" to be one of THOSE?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Outside Judgement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In some cases, it can affect life/livelihoods. But those aren't the judgements that you're avoiding when you choose not to start a project, not to do something you've been wanting to do but don't, not apply for opportunities, start but never finish things? The judgement you run from is judgement from peers. Humans like to take action AFTER social proof that it is accepted by the masses. It is just how we're hardwired. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thankfully, we can be re-wired!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, again, what is it that happens if you're judged? I can tell you 2 things from experience for sure: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. "They" almost never say it to you directly so you will likely never even hear it. Let em talk amongst themselves🤐! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Typically, you are never going to be judged by someone trying to accomplish anything big/meaningful💅. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Which leads to my next question: *mouf smack* How much is "they" opinion worf👂? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Answer: Zero Fucks, it's worth Zero Fucks, Ma'am🚫. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This pic of me living my best life creating things I enjoy BECAUSE I chose to do something WITH SO MUCH outside judgement anyway.
