project update! this series i've been working on making with my friend Shane is starting to be released on YouTube! The intro is up, and we're aiming for ep 1 to be up in the coming weeks, and are well on our way on ep 2. It'll all be online for free, with the goal of demystifying wood coatings and how/why they work for hobbyists and woodworking professionals alike.
Woodworking adjacent work today, I turned my stockpile of local beeswax from the farmers market into a beeswax finish.
It consists of beeswax and mineral oil. Take some beeswax and add some mineral oil and melt it together. Once it's melted adjust the amount of mineral oil so that when it cools it's easy to spread. (I usually spread a small amount on the back of a plate then feel it's consistency). Once it feels good out it into jars and let it cool.
