Leah despertó aquella mañana viendo el otro lado de la cama vacío, había caído rendida la noche anterior así que se dispuso a ponerse de pie e ir a la cocina por su café mañanero. Al llegar aquel “buenos días, amor” se hizo ausente por parte de su compañera que se encontraba cercana a ella. Sirvió su taza de café volteando a verle pero no pudo contener el silencio. — Al parecer alguien despertó molesta, ¿Qué sucede? — Era extraño el silencio entre ambas.

—Es la primera vez en la semana que paramos en un motel con agua caliente... no me apures —. Se quejó la morena, mientras continuaba con la tarea de cepillar sus dientes. No era como si tuviesen algún tipo de compromiso, habían estado fuera todo el día y la noche había caído, lo único que les quedaba era quedarse en la habitación de aquel motel, o quizás ir a algún bar, pero dudaba que Dean ( tanto como ella ) tuviesen los suficientes ánimos de hacer algo más que dedicarse a encontrar a Sam. Terminó de cepillar sus dientes y, luego de lavarse la cara, salió del baño envuelta en una toalla, y con el cabello aún húmedo, para encaminarse hacia su cama y rebuscar en su bolso alguna muda de ropa limpia. —¿Puedes prestarme una camiseta que esté limpia? —. Definitivamente TENÍA que lavar su ropa, probablemente se encargaría de eso al otro día. ( zeroxgalaxies )

Aquel día no habían salido a ningún lado ya que Caleb estaba agotado gracias a que no había parado de filmar escenas para su nueva película en toda la semana. Sky estaba en la sala de estar con su bloc de bocetos apoyado en sus piernas y un lápiz entre sus dedos, pensando en un nuevo diseño para su colección de invierno, sin embargo sus pensamientos fueron interrumpidos gracias al sonido del timbre. Se levantó del sofá y se dirigió a la puerta principal y al abrir se encontró con una enorme sorpresa. Se trataba de un bebé enredado en muchas cobijas y a un lado de él se encontraba una nota en la cual se podía leer: “Ya no puedo cuidar a mi bebé, pero sé que ustedes dos lo harán muy bien.” Una mueca de horror se dibujó en las facciones de la muchacha e inmediatamente el nombre de su pareja escapó de sus labios. “¡Caleb! ¡Ven, ven, ven! Tienes que venir ahora.” Fue lo único que escapó de sus labios, su mirada aún fija en la criatura que reposaba frente a sus pies.

    YEARS  HAD PASSED since  édith last saw  her       little niece.  she had then been a bright little  infant,       all pink and fragile,  her brother and his wife’s little       biscuit.  she  had  come to visit them,  to welcome       the new  family member…  without ever imagining       that one day,  the  girl  would  be  taken  under  her       protection after the death of  her  brother,  followed       by her sister-in-law’s shortly afterwards.

      ÉDITH HADN’T GRIEVED for her brother, truth be       told, as much  as he wouldn’t  have grieved for  her.       of course, she could only imagine how lost the poor       child must have felt in the space between losing her       mother and being sent away, under the guard of peo-       ple who were nearly strange to her, onto the home of       an aunt who would be just as strange for her.

      THE CLOSEST SHE’D GOTTEN to  such  a  feeling       had been years ago, having been sent away from  her       family (and, secretly, her childhood sweetheart) to  be       wed to a man three decades and a half her senior, one       she had  never even  met before.  fifteen years old–no       more than a  child, really,  but  one  who  had  matured       beyond her years for lack of a better option.

       SO  FAR,  ÉDITH  WOULDN’T have  been  exactly the        example  of  a woman with maternal instincts. well, she        had  a lot  of respect  for the  innocence of  children;  but        when they began to be little brats around her, she  would        easily lose her patience. but no, this one was her niece--        made of the same blood and flesh that she was. 

        THE CARRIAGE  THAT BROUGHT HER came  into  a         halt right in front of the main door of her chatêau,  and so         she wore her best smile,something that so rarely did she         use, to offer the little child a warm welcoming.

           SHE TOOK THE GIRL into her  arms  seconds after she            got over the carriage. perhaps it would be a bad  approach            to try and play the mother role just now. perhaps with time,            when she was healed from the pain of her loss.
