I don't usually borrow from cql but here: Wen Chao going to the Cloud recess lessons, but instead of being an arrogant brat he sees lan Wangji for the first time in years and goes 😳😳

Like he used to tag along with his father when he went to sect conferences, often seeing the shy second jade brother following closely behind his shufu.

He remembers teasing the kid only to scare him away by accident.

He remembers sitting in one of the gusu lan gardens having some snacks as he waited for his father to be done only to be joined by the shy lan zhan. He didn't speak much, but it was alright he enjoyed talking anyway. It was even more fun making the boy's ears go all red.

but then he drifted a bit from following his father everywhere, as the heir to the wen sect was his older brother and not him. He instead went to have fun and be arrogant, only seeing lwj passing him when they happened to be at the same place.

baby lwj was truly a cute kid.

And now he was really pretty, it had struck him really hard when he saw him that day.

he wonders how he would look like if he smiled more often. Maybe he would smile if that wwx wasn't always bothering him on purpose.

cue wc sending a missive to his father like "I intend to court the youngest lan brother, I believe stronger ties with gusu lan would be good." The latter part is obviously only excused.

It was not like wrh would stop him from getting the boy.

and this is how it starts, wc trying to court lwj despite the other teen not looking convinced, looking at him with suspicion.

Ah, maybe he shouldn't have gained a bad reputation.

but none the least he tries his best, even studying about gusu's courtship tradition (wzl never believed he'd be asked to help search for such things).

And with hard work (and avoiding lqr warning glare) wc manages to have lwj get more used to him, more at ease.

it gets to a point where he is allowed to the second jade room to have some tea and listen to him practice music.

at some point when he is not studying he is stuck to lwj, even when he has to look over wwx in the library (he can do some reading).

all that time lwj slowly gets more open too, allowing his confused mind to wonder if he also likes wc.

Maybe he even lets wc touch his ribbon as a sight that he is accepting the courting 🤭 wc was a bit taken aback but really happy to be allowed that.

dunno how exactly, this leads to the sunshot campaign not happening because the wen calms down a notch when wc asks for the relationship between them and gusu stays good (which also means staying semi-good with gl allied sect).

it also probably helps that wc gets a bit less arrogant and less ready to piss off everyone because now he is focused on the pretty youngest jade brother
