Man, it's crazy how some indie artists and developers can sell merch of their stuff BEFORE they actually make the thing they're making... and this is for YEARS. Some don't even finish what they started, but a lot do. It's gotta be crazy pulling that amount of faith in from other people...

In all seriousness, I'm just joking. :P I can't help but muse about those kinds of artists, though. They, like... got all the hype and I'm right there for 'em, too. Sometimes I forget they're even making something, so when it pops up, I'm like "WAIT, OH YEAH! THAT!" It's even crazier when you're there when the account was just starting off and they're totally new to the creating-a-thing scene and they're all "um hi i made this...? ta da?" A couple years later and they're a juggernaut BEFORE IT'S EVEN DONE. :P I can't help but be happy for 'em.... but MAN, how do they do it? I'm over here like "I hope I can get to that point someday...... but..... hoooowwww...... hmmmmmm......."
Hard Reset
Kinda feels weird, having nuked my deviantART and Twitter (and a couple other places) in a matter of a few hours just like that. 'S about 18 years worth of stuff across both those sites... err, I mean, I still have it ALL archived, it's just not there. (I'd have cleaned this place up, too, but I'm still looking at a way to do so.) A small part of me is bummed out, but I honestly thought it'd hurt a lot more, but I remember why I did this is because I'm tired. I think the AI art theft plague thing was what broke me on that. ...Of course, that doesn't mean at ALL that I'm going anywhere or quitting. :P I'm just gonna retreat to my own lil corner of the internet. Perhaps open a lil forum and host a Discord server again. It'll be for me and whoever would like to visit (and is cool). I definitely want to look into a newsletter and a webring. Really, I think the best way to move forward is to step back out of social media and regroup in a place where cooperate bullcrap can't tell you what to do and doesn't promote casual theft. At any rate, I'll keep folks posted, if you care enough to stick with me, even if it's just a newsletter or Discord or something.
Am I odd for having a strict "no liking/sharing posts that are showing art that the person commissioned from someone else"? Like, they didn't draw it, but they got it from someone and they post the art to their own media/gallery/whatever and say who it's from.
I 'unno, I guess I've always had a bit of a envy thing for those accounts. They're obviously generous, so that's good, but some people get super popular off of just... commissioning other people, I guess? Like, they get one really good artist to draw an OC for them and it looks stellar. Just. Stellar~. Then they post it to their own blog or whatever and rake in piles of traffic because maybe the person that made it didn't post to their own gallery or they just have a bigger following. It later compounds to them commishing art left and right and getting more traffic and all they have to do is like... low-key RP as the character.
I 'unno, I guess I get super envious of that sometimes, because it's like... they didn't make ANY of that, but they're getting a LOT of traction. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating. If anything, they're very generous for commishing people so much AND giving proper credit when they do post, but... man, am I just doing this wrong? ^^; I 'unno, maybe I'm just jealous and that's it.
