Sokka and Zuko meeting in their first year of high school, two angry, broken boys who had no idea they’d end up being each other’s safe place.

Sokka had lost his mother and was quietly falling apart under the weight of being the responsible one, always smiling for Katara, always holding it together. Zuko had just gotten his scar, been cast out, and moved in with his uncle ,carrying rage he didn’t know how to put down.

They were the same kind of hurt, just wearing it differently. Sokka buried his behind jokes and easy grins. Zuko pushed everyone away before they could get close enough to see how much he was struggling.

When they met, something just clicked. No performance, no pretending. Around each other they didn’t have to be the strong one or the cold one they could just be. Angry, sad, healing, real.

They couldn’t help but falling in love over the years . It just kind of happened somewhere between late night venting sessions, comfortable silences, and Zuko slowly — very slowly — learning how to smile again because of Sokka.
