Kill Shot Virus Review -First Person Shooter

Introduction

Kill Shot Virus is a free to play FPS (First Person Shooter) set in an apocalyptic world where zombies roam through every street, searching for any prey to feast upon. It’s the sequel to Kill Shot Bravo and the 3rd game in the Kill Shot series.

While previous games put you in the shoes of a special ops soldier, this time you play as a survivor in a world overrun by zombies. Developed and published by Hothead Games, let’s take a look at what this zombie shooter has to offer.

Menu

Upon entering the game you get to see the menu screen which shows real time rendered zombies moving around an area next to a beautiful, large building and a burning helicopter. Here you can start playing straight away

Options

Options screen where you can turn off music, sound effects, notifications, blood, or adjust the graphics quality as well as change touch sensitivity. You can also connect your Play Games account here as well as link your Facebook account for additional bonuses.

Other things you can find in the Options screen include the Credits screen as well as a Help page detailing you everything you need to know about the game.Once you’ve adjusted your graphics quality accordingly to ensure you get a smooth experience, you can head on over to the main menu and tap the play button.

Controls

Here the game introduces you to the controls and everything you need to know. The controls are simple: hold the button in the bottom right corner of the screen to shoot and swipe anywhere on the screen to aim.

Kill Shot Virus Gameplay

After taking down a few zombies you are tasked with clearing the area and moving towards city hall. The game features a Kill Camera which you can rotate around. It’s a pretty neat feature, as the game lets you see the bullet pierce through the zombies head in slow motion.

After completing the mission you are rewarded with “Bucks”. Try to make a few headshots as that will give you a bonus. Weapons can be upgraded with a bigger mag size using Gold or Bucks. You can also upgrade how much damage they deal, the accuracy, range, or recoil as well.

Missions

Kill Shot Virus features Primary, Dead Ops, Sniper and Breach Missions. Primary Missions is your regular campaign mode. Breach Missions are missions where the goal is to save any living survivor. Dead Ops and Sniper Missions are locked at the start but are unlocked once you level up a bit. The goal of Dead Ops missions is to eliminate a specific type of zombie whilst making sure your survivor stays alive. In Sniper Missions you stand at a higher vantage point and shoot at incoming hordes of zombies who are coming at the civilians. You’ll get more rewards if you manage to keep everyone alive. All of these missions may require having a specific weapon in order to play it.

Enemy

There are various types of enemies in Kill Shot Virus. One of them is The Exploder, which as the name suggests, blows up when he’s shot in the stomach or if he gets too close to you. He’s useful for taking out large groups of zombies but if he catches you off guard then try and shoot at his arms, head or legs to stop him from exploding.

Weapon Types

Kill Shot Virus features 4 types of weapons: Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles and Machine Guns. To buy a weapon you’ll need Bucks or Gold, depending on what currency is allowed for that weapon. You can join or create Factions, which if you do will give you a bit of Gold and Medals. Medals are used to buy medal supply drops that contain a variety of gears, such as masks or jackets.

In-App Purchases

The game may at some point pop up with a screen showing a limited time bundle that you can get as an In-App Purchase. Not a fan of throwing you things that require real money on the screen. The game in total has 5 Regions which are divided into missions. More Regions are planned to be added in the future.

Rewards

You also have Daily Rewards which may include more Bucks, maybe a weapon or maybe even some Gold. You also have Daily Objectives which once completed give you various rewards. If you complete all the Daily Objectives you earn Gold. Watching 30-second videos is also a way to get free Gold as well as joining or creating a Faction. Gold can also be earned by completing offers such as downloading a different game. I don’t really like this feature as it really takes you out of the game. Apart from that, these seem to be the only ways to actually get Gold for free without having to install any other game or app.

Energy system

As many other free to play games, Kill Shot Virus includes an Energy system, which limits how many missions you can play a day. You have a maximum of 10 Energy, and each mission seems to take about 1-2 Energy. Leveling up will refill your Energy back to the maximum limit.

You also have Power Ups, which can slow down time or give you more health. Unfortunately, Power Ups are locked behind a pay wall, requiring you to use real money to buy them as an In-App Purchase.

Positive

Great graphics.

Great animations.

Good gameplay.

Kill Camera feature is nice.

Negative

Too many In-App Purchases.

Expensive In-App Purchases.

Can’t use Power Ups unless you pay for real money.
