For the ask... November and Hours!
yay, a last one for the evening (before I have to start talking about writing and actually, er, write) --
november: do you have any rituals or requirements for getting in the mood for writing?
haha, I don’t! I kind of touched on this earlier -- I don’t have rituals because I can’t, I can’t. I used to have this whole thing--just had dinner, have a cocktail, incense, just the right music playing, blah blah. All that does is make the atmosphere really nice for when you could be writing but are in fact dicking around on the internet. You just gotta write. Perfect situation or not, there’s no magic to it. You write or you don’t, but there’s no sense in pretending that the reason you’re not writing is because the music’s wrong. You’re not writing because you’re choosing not to. That’s it.
...I’m very harsh with myself, haha.
hours: longest wip or completed fic?
wow, that’s a good question! Hmm. According to sorting by word count on AO3, it’s my fic In a Cursed Hour at 121k, which is a (so-far) gen AU in which Sam and Dean were raised as Men of Letters. It’s pretty good! But the wincest is as yet unseen, so it’s never going to get that many hits. (A lot of words to write for a very slim group of readers :D )
Coming up close behind that, though, if we include the half-written last fic, is my series Physical Graffiti, which is a (very) slight canon divergence where Sam’s torture in hell included Lucifer making him believe that he and Dean were a couple, and then things fall out in the real world from there. It’s at 90k as is, and the fourth fic (which isn’t necessary really, but would be nice to have) would probably put it right at about 120k too--if I ever finish it. But you can read the rest as is, and there are smutty things in there, which means there’s more of a payoff. :)
