Zuijin (随身), warrior guardians, holding bows and arrows, on each side of the Yōmeimon Gate (陽明門) of Nikkō Tōshō-gū (日光東照宮) in Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture-Japan. Zuijin are Shinto protector deities modelled after two of the most powerful positions within the Japanese court during the Heian period (794–1185). They are dressed as captains of the imperial bodyguard, in courtier's attire of the highest rank. The younger Minister of the Left is depicted with his mouth closed, and his elder counterpart is shown with his mouth slightly open.

The Zuijin is a type of kami in Japanese Shinto beliefs. Said to be warriors and guardians, they are usually depicted holding bows and arrows.

Statues of Zuijin are often placed either side of shrine gates. These are known as “Kadomori-no-kami,” or the gods who watch over the gates.
