I have seen some people talk about how each telepathic "voice" for an illithid is different so i wanted to describe my different Illithid npcs and pcs:
Vusiks: Vusiks presents in the mind is heavy and weighty. They demands respect and often will force emotions to rise in those who speak to them. The feeling you might get from standing in a grand hall before a king as trumpets sound. Every word is like an address before a crowd. Only when they are being private with someone does this change. Alone their voice softens to that of a caregiver. They can be very tender when the situation calls for it and their "voice" becomes a gentle warm whisper with a lot of comfort behind it. Imagine being tucked into bed by a loving parent and that is the feeling their private voice brings.
Trax: Trax's voice brings a chill to whomever they speak to. Her voice is calculating and has a viciousness behind it. Honestly I imagine the sound she actually put into you mind as being very similar to the female narrator from Baldur's Gate 3.
Sluzzell: Sluzzell "voice" is very dry. Their presence in the mind often feels like a being at a lecture in college. They do have a cute habit of projecting happier feelings when near Vusiks.
Zult (young): in the goblin campaign Zult is literally only 2 weeks into their adulthood. As such their psionics are still developing. Their voice is slow and struggling. They have trouble putting themself into the minds of others. Often there are long pauses in their speech.
Zult (current): Zult in the main campaign will be 3 months old and has fully devolved their adult powers. Zult's voice is strong and commanding. Since they haven't been an adult for long they haven't formed much of their own personality yet and actually mimic their host's personality a bit. This means Zult has a Burganworth accent and a bit of a regal sound (spoiler: Zult's host was a villainous npc the players captured earlier in the campaign. He was a Burganworth noble and god tear hunter)
Asalt: I have... never talked about Asalt on this blog. Asalt is a shop keep my players have a strong friendship with. Asalt is EXTREMELY flamboyant. Their voice is light and musical. Talking to them feels like going to the hottest club in town. Asalt often is extremely flirty with people they talk to as well, making them feel loved and often teasing them. You might even taste something sweet in your mouth when talking to them for long periods of time.
Squild: Squild voice is harsh and sharp. His voice feels like adrenaline at all times. Similar to running though the woods on a crisp day. When upset his voice become desperate and almost axiety inducing. When Squild is feeling peaceful though his voice changes to a somber tone. Squild often thinks about the ocean, space, and ships so when calm his voice feels like a cold ocean. Sometimes things will remind him of Orrizz and he will project memories into the people he talks to.
Orrizz: Light and musical. Orrizz was a master at talking to people and as such being near him always brings a calming affect. Warm, cozy feelings surround every word and drip with honey. It is very easy to be lulled into a false sense of security around Orrizz. I imagine Orrizz's voice could easily give someone asmr like sensations.
