My Daddy tried to teach me how to cook uphuthu but I preferred for him to cook it instead. Finally learned to do it last year👏👏👏👏 His sister's goats ate my vegetables, otherwise I would be preparing food his way, with green peppers and all. Rice and bread are now luxury items in this province 😂😂😂😂😂. Hhai KZN is something else yho. When my mother worked the night shift, my dad would be the one responsible for taking care of us. In my family when you turned 10 years, you were considered grown enough to be trusted with matches or fire, so it was time for you to learn to cook. Since my mother worked mostly at night, my father taught me how to cook (which I must say was quite progressive for a Zulu man in the 70s). This is the first thing I was taught to make, 'Ujeqe', a steamed bread that you use to mop your curry or stew with (delectable!!!!).
