M 76, the Little Dumbbell Nebula, is another expanding shell of gas being propelled outwards from a white dwarf star. It is approximately 2500 light years away from earth. One of the other interesting things about this photograph is the bright reddish star to the lower right of the nebula. That is a red giant star that has expanded to approximately 32 times the diameter of our own sun. It is a little less than 900 light years from us. Eventually it too will begin a series of gas ejections as it shrinks down to a white dwarf and then there will be yet another planetary nebula in the sky. #celestrontelescope #zwocamera #nebulae #clayhausphotography (at Milky Way Galaxy) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGVZuUsBoai/?igshid=17p1lux6dsmki
