Luckily Chihaya is there to cheer him up and change his mind.
There was a reason he had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. He had been feeling it for weeks, as the crisp autumn air rolled through the city, turning over into colder winter air as December approached. He had all but forgotten about that rather brusque comment Arata had made ten years before, until, that is, he’d gotten an invitation to celebrate his friend’s 28th birthday. It wasn’t as if he thought Chihaya would suddenly up and leave him or even that Arata would try anything, but maybe in the back of his mind, he just felt that old insecurity returning.
