@taizoukaimandara
Of course, he already had known what was planned.
"That sounds like a good idea. Letâs go, Bel?"
"Canât wait fer this!" He laughed and got up, patting Guilmonâs head again before heading downstairs, feeling excited for what awaited him.Â
It had taken several days for her to get everything set up right and a good few hours to make sure everything was prepared and ready to go.Â
Honestly, the hardest part was keeping her idiot out of the kitchen so she could work in secret.
"And... just about finished."
Turning to the door, she waited, smiling as she heard footsteps approaching.
Taiki nodded, idly noting in the back of his mind that only in the digital world could one have a serious discussion on the topic of ninja attacks.
âI guess everyone just wanted to be able to live in a world where theyâre free to make their own choices,â Shoutmon ventured. âOne thing I learned on our adventures is that a kingâs job is to trust his people, and have faith that even if they make a mistake, they can do better next time!⊠Magnamon, huh? Thatâs a strong name! I bet he and Iâd get along just fine!â
âZombie virus?â Taiki repeated, aghast. âBut why would they even do that? What point could that even serve?â Bagramon, as misguided as he had been, had good intentions somewhere deep in his core, but how would something like that help anyone?
âThose Demon Lords need to be stopped, and soon,â he said, a hardened determination swelling up within him. Shoutmon cast an aside glance at his partner, and knowing what he was about to say, gave a firm nod in support. âKuzuhamon⊠I know this isnât our digital world, but if thereâs anything we can do to help out, I want to do that. I canât just let Digimon like that roll over any world if I have the power to stop them.â âThatâs my general!â Shoutmon crowed. âIâm behind Taiki all the way. Kuzuhamon, I want to talk to this Lady Magnadramon of yours about more than just that program now! I may not be a king here, but Iâm still a Digimon, and I can still fight! After all, weâve been playing by one rule ever since we started, right, Taiki? Whenever someoneâs in trouble and we have the power to helpâŠâ âWe just canât turn our back on them,â Taiki finished. âKuzuhamon, weâre going to do anything and everything we can to make sure the Demon Lords are stopped. I donât think itâs just coincidence that we met, or that we made our way to this world. I think weâre here for a reason, and thatâs to lend a hand to bring peace here as well.â
âAnd once weâre done taking out the trash, we can feast on all that delicious food!â Shoutmon was getting fired up now - both at the thought of getting into a fight for a good cause, and at the sound of all the delicacies this world had to offer. âItâd suck if everyone turned into zombies before we got a chance to try those burgers! Guess weâve got another reason to fight, eh?â
The Trailmonâs interjection stopped any more declarations of intent to kick ass Shoutmon was about deliver, but the Digimon King was in too high spirits to be brought down now. âSorry, Trailmon!â he shouted to the Digimon with a laugh. âTell you what, Iâll make sure to rustle something up for you for the return trip, OK?â
âIt seems like all that really did prime you for becoming a great ruler,â she complimented. It seemed like heâd get along fine with the rulers of this Digital World. Definitely heâd get along with Magnadramon at this rate. âHeâs one of the Royal Knights, a guardian of the Network here,â she explained. âI hear heâs very easygoingâŠand counting by your human years, I think heâs around my age- which is 19, I suppose.â
âAnd- Why is he doing it? Power, I suppose. A means to instill fear and a want of the common people to surrender, lest they become experiments or infected,â she explained, folding her hands in her lap. âPerhaps even further, if what Iâve heard is right,â she sighed.
âAnd by that I mean subjugation of the human world in addition to the Digital,â she went on, a worried expression on her face. Looking up at their promise, she blinked several times, needing to register what theyâd just said. Had they really offered- insisted to help? âYou guysâŠâ she whispered, shaking slightly. It was one thing when Taiki had offered to help her with her problems and give her moral support. But now that he was offering to involve himself in their world, help them protect it. It surprised her that he was so willing to step into battle on behalf of a Digital World he didnât have any knowledge of before meeting her. âA-are you sure, I mean this is crazily dangerous⊠I donât-â she didnât want anything to happen to them just because she was telling them about the problems her world had. It meant a lot to her, but⊠she was worried for them. It was only natural, though, they were her friends and she didnât want them to risk themselves unnecessarily. âAnd- thatâs you and a lot of people wanting to stop them,â she smiled, unable to keep herself from tearing up at the promise. âI-if you go through with this, I donât⊠How could I even thank you guys enough?â
âWe could probably even get food before then- Iâm sure sheâll have food brought up if you ask her politely enough~â she giggled just as the Trailmon lurched to a halt.
The doors slid open with a hiss and metal creaked as he turned his head back as far as allowed to address his lone group of passengers. âEh donât worry about it, kid. They take good care of us Trailmon at the stations- gotta have happy trains if anyone wants to get anywhere on time, right? And next time ask before opening up snacks in the car! Iâll be damned before I have any crumbs between the seats,â he shuddered, the car starting to shake as well.
âI guess thatâs our cue to get off,â Kuzuhamon laughed awkwardly, tugging on their arms a moment before heading to the door. âThank you, Trailmon!â she called as she stepped onto the platform.
Looking to the doorway leading into the castle, she hoped that Magnadramon wasnât too busy to see them.Â
âTheyâre pretty stealthy, when they want to be,â Taiki confirmed with a nod of the head. âIf there are any Digimon like that in this world, they might just be hiding out. Theyâre really nice, though, so I wouldnât worry about watching out for any ninja.â
âAnybody who wants to help can,â Shoutmon replied. âIn the end, it took the entire digital world working together to bring Bagramon down. Even when we might argue on some things, in the end, we all just want to be able to live happily. Anyone whoâs willing to put some work into making sure others have a good life canât be all bad, after all!â
âApollomonâs really strong, yeah, but the Digimon we had to face off against⊠even as strong as he is, he couldnât have beat them all by himself. Or even Bagramon, as strong as he wasâŠâ the king mused. âBagramon was strong enough to be able to rip a hole between the digital and human worlds,â Taiki clarified. âHis ultimate plan was to transform both of them into a utopia, but his vision included stripping everyone of choice and free will.â âAs for Apollomon, heâs more worried about causing a stir by showing up in public,â Shoutmon added, steering the conversation back on track. âThe area he had to rule over all thought of him as an evil ruler, since he played the part so the Bagra Army didnât get rid of him and send someone actually bad in his place. Even though the Digimon are starting to forgive and forget there, he still hasnât forgiven himself⊠though I donât think heâd object to someone from another world meeting him, since he wouldnât worry about being judged for what happened.â
The king clenched his fists and grimaced as he recalled what had happened with the Demon Lord of Lust in his world. âYeah, Lilithmonâs gone,â he said. âAround the time we met Apollomon, actually. She ended up mutating into a giant monster and our BeelzemonâŠâ The words caught in his throat. Even as long ago as it had been, the memory of that solitary black feather finding its way to Xros Heart, as if to say goodbye⊠âHe sacrificed himself to destroy her and save all of us,â Taiki finished, resting a supportive hand on his partnerâs shoulder. âThe Code Crown brought him back, but at the time we had no idea if we would ever get that far.â
Damn that Lilithmon, Shoutmon thought. No matter what world or what version, she canât just leave good Digimon alone! If I get my hands on this oneâŠÂ Meanwhile, Taiki nodded and let her mention of the young dragon lie where it was. He could tell the subject was a touchy one, and not entirely her own to share, so he understood her leaving it be.
Managing to recollect himself and control his anger, Shoutmon extended the DigiNoir container and carefully shook a little out into Kuzuhamonâs hand. âWell, if you havenât heard of DigiNoir, you definitely donât have it there! You know the saying about things not growing on trees? Well, this stuff actually does!â He smacked his lips, partly at the aftertaste of what heâd just eaten, and partly at the thought of all the foods Kuzuha had just described. âAw man, Taiki, just listen to all that grub! Meat apples? Burgermon? When weâre done with business we gotta find some of these places to try out!â Taiki laughed, and Shoutmon passed the DigiNoir. Taiki plucked out a couple bits and popped them in his mouth as well. âThis is good for humans, too, by the way,â he said to the purple-clad priestess. âThere wasnât much other food when my friends and I were in the digital world, so itâs pretty lucky this tastes so good!â
âUnless the ninja is working for the other side, which is also a likely scenario given some of the powers a Demon Lord has,â she sighed before shrugging it off. It wasnât like she lived where a ninja would attack. And if they did, theyâd be killed off pretty quickly.
âAnd youâve got a very good point there, Shoutmon,â she agreed. âThe entire Digital World, huh? I canât imagine something like that happening in mine- thereâs too many Digimon who differ on opinion too much for a miracle like that to occur,â she sighed, shaking her head in resignation. âAt least weâve got Lord Magnamon,â she shrugged. Which could be more than enough given the situation.
âThat Bagramon sounds about as bad as the Demon Lords. Those bastards are unleashing Digimon infected with a zombie virus into the world sometimes. And you have no idea how frightening it is to have to fight something that can easily turn you into another of its kind just by your own carelessness.â It was a nightmare, and she was glad that the Royal Knights- or Beelzemon- were able to fight them before there were too many casualties, if at all. Sometimes they failed a little more than normal, but it was turning into a war. And the Demon Lords were getting their message across. That reminds me so much of Belâs job it almost hurts. âItâs always hardest to forgive yourself, even if the rest of the world forgives you. Besides, thereâs no way Iâd judge him for doing what he had to as a means to protect them from something even worse,â she said, looking out the window. After all, werenât she and a bunch of others guilty of worse?
âAt least he was able to be reborn. Thatâs the important part, and now heâs with someone and living happily? That Code Crown seems pretty remarkable! And hey, at least things are peaceful in your world. What happened in the past is in the past, and itâs not like you were separated forever. So itâs not all bad, is it? Especially if that Lilithmon was unable to come back in the end either!â she assured them, smiling at the pair. It wouldnât do them good to dwell on the past, especially not when they were going to do something good!
âWait it does? Huh, thatâs⊠really peculiar,â she murmured, not realizing it grew on trees- container and all! Nibbling one of the pieces, she soon smiled in delight at the flavor, before continuing on to consume the pieces in her hand. It wasnât like anything in her Digital World, but it did taste excellent! âOh wow, I love this! I wish it grew in this world, itâs great!â she laughed as well. And she couldnât help but enjoy their reactions to the food in this Digital World. âWell, theyâre all pretty far apart, but Iâm sure Lady Magnadramon has food at the castle if you guys are hungry afterwards,â she nodded. âAnd yeah, I can tell! Oh, Taiki, the food I describedâs also edible for humans tooâand rumor has it one of the most popular burgers in BurgermonVillage was actually invented by a human!â
âHey, if you guys are done beinâ mopey or making me hungry, weâll be at Steel Citadel in just a few moments!â Trailmon shouted back to them before picking up speed. âDamned passengers, makinâ me wish I had something chocolate. Whereâs that one kid with the candy when ya need him?â he grumbled to himself.Â
Shoutmon grinned sheepishly at the compliment. âOf course! We made a lot of friends during all the battles we went through, so I dunno if we have time for me to tell you all of them, butâŠâ
âWe met a group of Monitormon who we helped out a couple times - do you know them? Ninja Digimon with TVs for heads? - and theyâve been really useful in keeping up contact between different areas. Some of the Digimon we fought alongside are out there helping with reconstruction efforts. Some of them, like Grademon or BlueMeramon, used to work for Bagramonâs army but changed sides and have been helping us ever since, usually with rebuilding or just giving help where needed.â
âThe Digimon from our army, Xros Heart⊠Ballistamon, Dorulumon, and Cutemon all met human partners of their own, so they stay with them a lot now. Revolmonâs helping oversee the reconstruction of the Sand Zone, where heâs from, into someplace where Digimon can live safely again. Bastemon went back to the Lake Zone, which she rules over, and is using the resources there to send aid to areas that need it more. Knightmon, whoâs her guard captain there, helps train Digimon who want to be peacemakers in other places.â
âAnd then thereâs ApollomonâŠâ Taiki smiled wistfully as Shoutmon talked about the Olympian lion. Even with Whispered gone and Apollomon revived, it still hurt at times to think about what had happened in that place. âApollomon is a really good and strong Digimon, but he was forced to work for the Bagra Army as one of their generals. He died helping us out, and the Code Crown brought him back, butâŠbecause he worked for the bad guys, even unwillingly, he feels a lot of shame about that, So he stays hidden away in the castle where I live, not showing his face outside because he doesnât think heâs repented enough. Heâs really wise, and gives a lot of good advice, but I hope heâll forgive himself one day.â
Shoutmon paused to collect his thoughts, and Taiki jumped in on the Lilithmon topic. âThe Lilithmon we fought is a lot like you described. She was completely ruthless and didnât care anything about the Digimon who worked for her. She was manipulative, too⊠you know the Beelzemon from our digital world? He used to be part of an order of knights that Lilithmon destroyed. She used a Digimon with mind-control powers to steal the wills of most of them. Baalmon - he wasnât Beelzemon yet - was forced to fight and kill all of his friends, including his mentor, to survive. Much later, when weâd met up with him, she tried to finish what sheâd started and kill him too, and nearly did, but Baalmon evolved to Beelzemon then and joined our team.â
âNowadays he travels around having adventures with Mervamon and lending a hand where he can,â Shoutmon chimed in. âAnd yeah, itâs kinda weird to wrap my head around the idea that humans created a digital world of their own-â Taiki nodded his assent- âbut look at the view!â he said, peering out the window. âAnd I couldnât say it better myself! Digimon are Digimon, and we should help each other out regardless of world.â A thoughtful look passed over his face. âWell, I dunno if you guys have this, butâŠâ he rummaged around, finally pulling out an orange-and-yellow canister, âthis is DigiNoir, the best food in my digital world!â He popped open the canister and tossed a couple of the light brown grains into the air, catching them in his mouth. âItâs delicious, and a fresh batch! Want to try some?â
âMonitormon? Iâve never heard of a Digimon like that before,â she admitted, puzzled by it. Of course, being from a different Digital World, she was sure that there were Digimon that they had that the one she lived in didnât. Either that, or sheâd just never encountered any Monitormonâninjas? That sounded fairly secretive, now that she thought about it. âWow, youâre a very accepting king to even let former enemies help you out with little trouble. It must be beautiful in your world.â
She nodded as she heard about the efforts of the Digimon in that world. It reminded her of how hard everyone in the Digital World she knew was working to protect their world from the thread- either actively, in working on the vaccines or securing various potential weak points, or the common citizens following orders and just trying to improve their homes at the request of those in charge. It made her proud to live in such a world like that. It seemed like they had a great handle on things over there.
âApollomon?â Kuzuhamon blinked. âYou have- An Olympus Twelve member was used by the enemy?! I-â she shook her head, looking at her hands. âThatâs frightening, considering how strong heâs reputed to be,â and in a lower tone she added, âand even more reason why those two need to be protected.â She could only guess at what atrocities could be wrought if Lunamon and Coronamon were forced to mature and made to serve the Demon Lords- or any Digimon with ill intent. Not to mention who would go berserk trying to get them back. âI hope he can come out of hiding someday, Iâd like to meet him. It wouldnât be an easy thing, being used by the enemy as pretty much just a tool, Iâm sure. He sounds like a kind Digimon.
ââŠAnd the Lilithmon in your world got what she deserved in the end, right? Because the one here is still alive and she still has an annoying little harem of three she keeps around her as servants and guards,â Kuzuhamon replied in an irritated tone. âItâs a shame that your friend Beelzemon had to suffer all that trauma because of her. That seems to be quite the constant among worlds, doesnât it?â she said. âAnd before you ask- no, it wasnât me that the Lilithmon here did anything to. It was someone I live with, and he hasnât⊠quite gotten over it yet,â Kuzuhamon shook her head. She wasnât sure about getting into Ginryumonâs particular vendetta. In the end, she figured she might as well leave the details out.
âDigiNoir? No, I canât say we have that food in our world- thereâs a lot of things similar to the human world sold in villages, then the meat apple trees, some certain kinds of cabbages that taste like different things depending on what color they are, and then the Burgermon village. Or the EbiBurgermon that sometimes have snack carts on other Trailmon. Ah! Thereâs also a village of Floramon and Mushroomon that have some of the best soups and stuff for tourists,â she said, ticking each off on her fingers. âBut sure, Iâd love to try some! How is this made?â she asked, reaching out a bit for the DigiNoir. It looked pretty good, she had to admit.Â
Taiki nodded his assent, though he couldnât help but notice the shiver that passed through Kuzuhamonâs body as she mentioned the possibility of being experimented on. He knew now wasnât the time or place to prod that topic, though. He hoped they hadnât inadvertently caused her pain through the topic, so he was relieved that she changed the direction of the discussion.
The two of them both grinned. âGot it in one! Itâs pretty much Taikiâs catchphrase - he canât turn his back on anyone. Thatâs how we met in the first place, and thatâs how weâve rolled ever since,â Shoutmon declared. âAnd you better believe I know the value of friendship! Courage and guts take ya a long way, but not even a king can do everything by himself.â He nodded at his partner. âAs long as I have Taiki and everyone else backing me up, thereâs nothing I canât do!â With this, he flashed a huge grin.
âLilithmon?!â The two were both somewhat surprised to hear that name. âSo this worldâs got one of her too, huh?â Taiki asked. âWe had to fight Lilithmon - well, a Lilithmon - a bunch of times when we were trying to save the digital world. If the one in your world is anything like her, then I understand perfectly.â
However, when she then explained the origin of the world she came from, the two both listened intently, puzzled by what they just heard. âMade by humans? I never would have thought we could make something like an entire world with living habitants,â Taiki reflected. âThatâs really weird,â Shoutmon agreed. âI mean, not to knock on your world at all, but⊠the one I come from has existed for a long time, longer than humans have been alive. Thatâs pretty crazy that theyâre so different like that but are so alike in other ways.â
âStill, itâs good that people are keeping an eye on the connection,â Taiki said. âIf both people and Digimon are looking out for both sides, I think things should be going okay.â Shoutmon nodded with a grunt to affirm his own agreement.
âThat definitely answered my question, though,â the Digimon King responded after a brief pause to digest what heâd just heard. âAll right, Iâm looking forward to seeing what a human-made digital world is like! No time like the present for an adventure like that!â
It wasnât like she was just going to up and tell him what had happened to her as a child that made her so wary of scientists- even of Magnadramon in the past, until the ruler had chosen to get to the bottom of it and promise not to program her with anything without her permission. And even then she still had her moments during the serious and technical explanations.
âHmm I think I remember something like that from when we met~â Kuzuhamon teased, grinning at them. Though she was indeed very grateful for what theyâd done for her. âThatâs good, that a king knows that- after all, one can hardly expect a king to go ignorant of his subjectsâ well-being. I think itâs something I admire about you, Shoutmon,â she nodded. Though sheâd heard little of the other Digimonâs rulership, she had faith that he was doing exactly as he described. âMay I ask who some of your other friends are that are helping you out?â
âAnd⊠yes. Sheâs one of the Seven Demon Lords- the representative of lust, specifically. Iâve never met her personally, but those I know who have, theyâve told me sheâs kind of a massive, power-hungry bitch,â she answered. âI do not envy you in fighting her- what was the one you knew like?â if they could learn anything about their Lilithmon, then maybe the one the Royal Knights were fighting would be easier to bring down.
âReally? Thatâs incredible, for the Digital World to have existed long before humans ever didâAnd itâs fine, you arenât at all! Itâs only natural something like that would feel strange to someone whoâs from an entirely different version. I mean, your world sounds similarly peculiar to me, since I canât even imagine some of the things you have there. But hey, weâre both Digimon regardless, right~?â she grinned. âSo what else does your Digital World have?â she asked, genuinely interested.
Trailmon sped across the tracks, a vast scene of Digimon traveling around, some of them flying overhead, all around them. Overhead hung the giant orb that was the human world, and little packets of trash data blew by on the wind.
Kuzuhamon considered her world to be somewhat perfect, even despite the problems that were plaguing it at the moment. Now that she had that on her mind though, she couldnât help but wonderâŠ
Would they be willing to help?
Well, perhaps but it wouldnât hurt to gauge their reactions if it came up. And knowing Lady MagnadramonâŠÂ
â ugh.. no! of course no â she replied feeling guilty after hearing her words, Kuzuhamon is such a nice digimon and she seems powerful enough to take out a mega digimon â so youâre a Mega digimon huh ? â changing the subject; she tried to make her body stand still without shaking.Â
"Really? I don't know I'm just a little worried I guess, since you were backing away form me for a minute there. And you're still shaking." she said, pursing her lips. She didn't have an intention of scaring her. "As for my level, yes, I am a Mega level Digimon."
Not that it mattered, she didn't do much actual fighting.Â
Taiki laughed. Looking back, it had been pretty absurd that heâd managed to befriend Wisemon, hadnât it? âWell, heâd been traveling in the space between zones for ages by himself, just researching. He wanted to know more about humans, but I think he went a little⊠stir-crazy, I guess? He gave up on the dissection thing pretty quickly, I think he was lonely more than anything. But he ended up coming with us after he helped save us all from a powerful bad Digimon and decided he wanted to learn more about us by helping us save the digital world.â
âHeâs a little crazy, but heâs got a good heart,â Shoutmon added. âWeâd never have won if he hadnât been there. Nowadays heâs researching on how to help our world get put back together the right way.â He smiled, thinking back on the time they had fought that Arkadimon. âYou rubbed off on him, Taiki. He canât turn his back on people he can help now, either.â
Both of them nodded slowly, processing what she was telling them about the station. If nobody in the human world had stumbled on it either, despite walking right over it for who knew how long, then it had to be quite the well-kept secret. Not for the first time, Taiki reflected on how privileged he was to be let in on the vast secret that Digimon were to humanity.
Shoutmon sighed and let out a breath, his annoyance dissolving with it. âWell, he did kinda have a point, even if he couldâve asked nicer. I havenât heard of any other Shoutmon even in my world, for that matter.â As the scenery began to speed by, he wondered if there was another Shoutmon in some digital world somewhere just like him, one who dreamed of being a king who could bring peace to the world.
âQuestions? Um⊠Shoutmon, you know more about your world and what being a Digimon is like, why donât you start?â Taiki had questions of his own, but some of them he predicted would be answered on their own in due time.
Shoutmon pulled up his legs into a cross-legged position, resting his head in his hands. âWhat do I wanna know, huh? Well, I guess we gotta start with the basics, right? Where did your world come from? I mean-â he waved his hand in the air, trying to get the feel of the right words - âLike how old is it, whatâs its relationship with the human world? That sorta thing.âÂ
âMm itâs just my own hang-up I guess. I donât think I could easily befriend a Digimon who wanted to experiment on me,â she shuddered. Thinking about it made her skin want to crawl as she remembered that laboratory. âStill, at least he turned out to be benevolent in the end,â she acknowledged. Listening to the rest of the circumstances behind Wisemonâs recruitment, she smiled. So maybe not all scientists were crazy enough to experiment on their fellow Digimon. That made her feel better, but she wasnât going to exactly jump at the chance of meeting him.
âI take it Taikiâs mannerisms have a tendency to rub off on a lot of people?â Kuzuhamon teased, grinning at the two of them. âThough itâs nice to hear that youâre all working so hard for the benefit of your world. Especially if youâre not afraid to ask for help if you need it, Shoutmon.â
It reminded her of how the Great Angels were working together, trying to secure harmony by keeping as much danger away from the populace as possible. Whether it be by hosting certain Royal Knights in their stations, or directing defenses and doing as much as possible to improve the area in which she had command over in Salamonâs case, to even venturing forth and making sure that a gate to the Dark Area remained unbreached in Cherubimonâs.
âThatâs true, but sometimes- especially in this world, I guess, thereâs a lot of unique Digimon. Whether by their evolutions theyâre one of a kind, or some of them whose data is so unique theyâre the only living members of their species,â she explained, thinking of several who were unique in that sense. âI mean imagine the horror if there were multiples of a Digimon like Lilithmon in a single world. Ugh, one is already too many if you ask me,â she shuddered, recalling her Beelzemonâs stories.
âUm⊠Iâm not too sure about that, actually. Belâs told me that our Digital World was created by humans, and with how some of the Digimon take the forms of things found in human mythology, thereâs more than enough evidence to back that up- but he doesnât know too many details about that. I know this worldâs pretty old, but itâs hard to say since I think time was moving faster at the beginning. Iâd have to look it up when I have the chance, but I do know that human programmers were the ones who created it. What about your own?
âAs for its relationship to the human world, well there are some humans who know about it- adults, even- who I guess monitor things on that end? Though itâs not hostile, so as far as I know, everythingâs sort of okay between worlds.â
She laughed at the mention of â massive jackass â and since she knew him for a short time; she wonât judge him just yet, in her eyes; Beelzemon might be nice.. maybe she got that idea of the fact that sheâs already friends with another sweet Beelzemon who always saved her and her friends back in the digital world.
She took a step back watching Kuzuhamon leaning on her, shaking; she looked away â of course not! â there you go Akari you just made a digimon upset why canât you keep your big mouth shut for a moment ? to be honest with herself; she was scared from getting attacked by an angry digimon but then again.. Dorulumon is here with her.. he could save her like he always did.
The one Kuzuhamon knew however, was moody and arrogant. Not that she loved him any less for it, but it took quite a bit before he was able to trust someone he didn't know too well. Even she...Â
Frowning, she tilted her head at Akari. Why did she look afraid? Did she do something wrong? Sighing, Kuzuhamon scratched her head. "Akari, why are you shaking? I'm not scaring you, am I? I don't think I'm very intimidating anyway- I'm not as powerful a Mega as I could be, and you seem like a nice human. I don't get it, did I do something wrong?" she asked, genuinely concerned.Â
She didn't even know that Akari thought she was mad.Â
âRemind me to introduce you to Wisemon sometime. Heâs about as wacky-researcher as they come, and he used to call Taiki his lab animal,â Shoutmon chortled. Taiki shivered internally at the memory of Wisemon wanting to dissect him on their first meeting. Theyâd become friends, well enough, but what a first impression that had beenâŠ
âThatâs a pretty good design, then. I wouldnât want random people stumbling down here either.â Taiki commented. âOr nasty Digimon using the Trailmon to get into this world,â Shoutmon added. Whatever the origins, this place was solidly built and programmed. Someone had put a lot of thought into keeping both worlds safe, and Shoutmon felt a little more assured knowing that the rulers of this other digital world didnât have it out for humans either.
The two partners watched nonplussed as Kuzuhamon traded barbs with the Trailmon. Shoutmon made particular note of Kuzuhaâs shift from human to Digimon form - sheâd done it with just a thought, it seemed, and the process looked like it didnât hurt at all. Well, at least he still didnât have any reason to doubt his decision.
As the king and the general made to move onto the train car, the Trailmon huffed and cast a seemingly disapproving eye over Shoutmon. âWhat kinda Digimonâre you even supposed to be, bud? Ainât never seen anything like you before.â Shoutmonâs eye twitched, but he held his tongue when Taiki put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. âTrains with attitude,â Taiki sighed once theyâd boarded. âWhatâll they think of next?â
The two took a seat directly across from their friend, and looked out the windows as the vehicle chugged into life. For the first time, Taiki and Shoutmon were about to enter an entirely alien digital world, and they both couldnât help but feel a little overwhelmed.
ââŠOkay Lady Magnadramon wonât do that, I can assure you. âŠBeing called a lab animal sounds terrifying, to be honest. How did you come to befriend someone who was willing to experiment on you?â Kuzuhamon asked, rubbing her arms just a bit. It reminded her of how Barbamon had treated her and her friends.
âNot many Digimon know thereâs a terminal here at all, honestly. No one bothered to care or ask,â she shrugged. âAnd so long as it keeps those who would do harm out, then thatâs even better,â Kuzuhamon said, nodding. It was one of the prides that she knew of, even if most of those with knowledge of Digimon were probably unaware it even existed down there. (Or still, in the case of some others)
And as the priestess settled down in her seat, she couldnât help but giggle at Shoutmonâs reaction to the Trailmon. âTheyâre all fairly sarcastic like this,â she whispered to him reassuringly. He looked like an offended kid when just what kind of Digimon he was was put into question. But then, sheâd never seen a member of his species before meeting him a few months ago either.
Looking at them, she frowned, wondering what they could talk about while on their train ride. âUm⊠well, if you have any questions about my Digital World, nowâd be the time to ask them, I guess,â she offered with an awkward chuckle. Had to help somehow, right? Smiling, she leaned back to gaze out the window, watching the well-made brick wall fly by them as they continued picking up speed.
A distortion made its way around the train as it sped through the tunnel, multicolored and crackling before almost seeming to peel back- leaving the tunnel unchanged, but the feel of it. They definitely at least werenât in the human world anymore.
âRight,â Taiki agreed. âIf you love each other, thatâs all that matters, in the end!â He had no doubt that the marriage would be a happy one.
âWell, Iâve met some pretty eccentric people in my time, and weâre friends with quite a few of them,â he laughed. While he was sure that any ruling figure would be somewhat larger-than-life, he had to admit he was now rather curious just what this mysterious Magnadramon was like, and what kind of Digimon she was. But if Wisemon was any indication of what Digimon scientists were like, he thought theyâd get along just fine.
The three made their way to Shibuya, and in turn, the Trailmon station, making small talk all the while. Taiki and Shoutmon - the latter now out of his Xros Loader, having entered a usually Digimon-exclusive area - stared in awe at the practically cavernous architecture around them. âThis place is huge,â Shoutmon murmured. âOh man, how did anyone manage to build this in secret? Thatâs amazing!â
âSo, how do we call the Trailmon to take us there?â Taiki asked. âWeâve met a Trailmon a couple of times, but itâs always been sent or brought to us by someone else. Do we just call down one of the tunnels, orâŠ?â
As if in response, one of the tunnels suddenly lit up, a pinpoint of light shining far within its depths as though something a long way away was suddenly approaching.
âOh really? Thereâre others just as eccentric as someone like her? Iâd love to meet them, then,â Kuzuhamon laughed. Magnadramon wasnât exactly impressive at first glance, she felt. But getting to know her was an entirely different story. Or that was what sheâd been told, of course. Even if the programmer came off as crazy moreso than any sort of natural leader, she had done a lot for their Digital World.
âAs for this place, Iâm not sure to be honest. I think Lady Ophanimon had a hand in it, but Iâve never gotten a chance to ask her. But I know it only really shows up when itâs needed, and not just whenever someoneâs bored. You know, for obvious reasons,â she acknowledged with a slight giggle. Though despite that laugh, she did have a very good point.
The Trailmon made its way to the platform and narrowed its eyelights at the priestess. âYa know, you Digimon who can take human form are crazy. Why would ya wanna change form? Itâs great being a Digimon!â it scolded her, shifting slightly on its wheels.
âThereâs some benefit of living in the human world. Besides, you take the form of something humans use every day,â Kuzuhamon pointed out, even as she slid back into her natural state anyway. âBesides, better that some people donât get too curious, right?â
âWhatever suits ya, lady,â Trailmon grumbled, swinging open the doors to allow the trio aboard. âAll aboard! SteelTown express!â
With a satisfied smile, Kuzuhamon stepped into the train.Â
Taiki smiled sheepishly and rubbed his neck at the admonishment. Try as he did to work on that reckless streak, it kept getting the best of him. âSorry, I didnât mean to worry you,â he replied.
The two partners grinned at her boundless enthusiasm. It was infectious, the way she made them happy just being around her in a good mood. âI guess we⊠kinda have stuff like that in the world I come from?â Shoutmon wondered aloud. âI mean, I grew up with a bunch of other kids and Jijimon never talked much about other adults, but I know Digimon who live and raise families together like Cutemonâs parents, so⊠itâs maybe not exactly the same but pretty close?â
âOh man, weâd be thrilled to come!â he added once Kuzuha had extended her invitation to come. Taiki nodded his assent. âI should probably find something nice to wear before then,â he mused. âI donât think just putting on an orange jacket would cut it in this case.â Shoutmon laughed at the memory.
âLady Magnadramon, huh? I remember you bringing her up last time. Well, if sheâs the one to ask then letâs go meet her! Anybody you work forâs gotta be a good guy!â Although he might not admit it, Shoutmon was somewhat excited to meet other Digimon rulers who worked for the benefit of their people. He might be able to learn something from them, and anything that would make him a better king to his own worldâŠ
âThereâs a whole station of Trailmon under Shibuya?â Taiki gaped. âWow, we never had any ideaâŠâ His mind instantly flashed to the thought of a younger boy who would have loved the opportunity to see it, though Taiki guessed that this time only he and Shoutmon would be allowed to go to their destination.
âWell, letâs go then. Lead the way!â
âSilly human,â she smiled, patting his shoulder. She needed to watch that though before it became a habit. Last thing she needed was Beelzemon teasing her about his habits rubbing off onto her.
âWell, I do too. I mean, I had parents who lived together and raised me. But I didnât think there was a whole thing behind it in the human world,â she said, now that she was thinking about it. Did Digimon normally get married? Sheâd never heard about that sort of thing in her village, but then she also hadnât cared when she was a child. âProbably close enough. But I guess exact details donât matter so much as the intent behind it, right?
âAnd you donât have to rush, Taiki,â she smiled a bit wistfully. âWe both acknowledge that thereâs a lot more to worry about than this- as much as we can prepare for it now, I donât think anything serious regarding it is going to happen until we get to a better point in his own mission.â
Shaking herself out of that brief sadness, she nodded. âThough sheâs a bit of an eccentric, just as a fair warning. So yeah donât be surprised by that,â she laughed awkwardly, beginning to walk towards the train station. Even if she was used to the peculiar queen figure, she wasnât sure how someone like Shoutmon or Taiki would take her personality. âI think being from another Digital World would really fascinate her.
âAnd yeah, there is! Itâs not regularly accessible to just everyone, for obvious reasons, but we can get down there. Itâs how I usually get to the human world when Iâm not with Bel,â she explained with an laugh, beckoning for the others to follow her.
Considering that Trailmon summoned there responded to the will of the would-be passengers and all.Â
âHaha, yeah, I was just really excited to see you again,â Taiki laughed, scratching the back of his head. There heâd gone and overdone things again! Good thing Akari wasnât there, sheâd probably smack him for having done that.
Both Taiki and Shoutmonâs eyes grew wide as she explained what exactly had happened to her the other day. âWhaaaaa-?! You got ENGAGED?!â Shoutmon exclaimed. He tried out the mental image of a Beelzemon dressed up as a groom, which led to the image of Mervamon in a bridal gown, being the one to carry the Beelzemon he knew over the threshhold. (Admittedly, it was an enticing image, and something heâd have to tease the two about later, but now was not the time.)
âCongratulations, Kuzuha!â Taiki said, totall surprised at the announcement. âI actually didnât really know Digimon got married in the same way people do. I never really had much reason to ask about it, I guess, but thatâs still really cool! Iâm glad to hear things turned out so great for you! And let us know if thereâs anything we can do to help out!â
And now for the big question - not the one Beelzemon had asked of Kuzuhamon, that was, but the one that had led them to her in the first place.
âWell, the reason weâd been looking for youâŠâ Shoutmon started. Heâd never had to ask something like this - then again, who had? - so he wasnât quite sure how to put it, but⊠âThe thing is, Iâve kinda been getting frustrated with either hiding in Taikiâs house or being stuck in the Xros Loader whenever we go out. And then I remembered you talking about the program you use to make yourself look human, and⊠well, I hope this isnât too much to ask, but do you think thereâs a chance I could use this program too?â
âYeah well donât overexert yourself on my account,â Kuzuhamon huffed, crossing her arms. She didnât want him to hurt himself or make himself sick because of her. What kind of friend would she be if that happened?
âAnd- Yes! Yes, I did! I was in shock about it too, but ahh Iâm just so happy about it, you have no idea~â she giggled, twirling around a bit in excitement. Grinning, she tried to imagine it herself, though with as little as she knew about human things such as weddings, all she did imagine was herself in a stylized purple dress⊠she wondered what Beelzemon would look like in his Blast Mode, though, as a human. It would probably be some fancy suit. Or she hoped it would look like one⊠had he chosen it yet?
She would have to talk to him about that later.
âI didnât know either, to be honest, but then he asked- I guess it is? Either that or he got the idea from being in the human world. Either way, thank you so much! Though when the wedding does happen, I would like you two to come,â she added in a quieter voice, smiling. âAnd thanks, Iâll keep that in mind!â
As Shoutmon asked Kuzuhamo his own question, her smile faded, turning into a thoughtful look as she tapped her finger to her chin. So Shoutmon wanted the program as well, huh? âHmm⊠well, I donât have any control over its distribution. Lady Magnadramon does, so weâll have to go see her. But Iâm sure she wouldnât mind!â she nodded. Or so she hoped. The worst that could happen was that sheâd say no! And it wasnât like Shoutmon was just some random Digimon- he was a king. Would that make him an ambassador, then?
Though now that she thought about that tooâŠ
She wondered if Shoutmon and Taiki would be brought in as well.
One could only find out.
âFortunately, thereâs a Trailmon terminal under Shibuya station, so we need to go there first if weâre going to go.â
Human and Digimon were hit with a sudden wave of enthusiasm, and couldnât help getting swept up and carried along with it. Taikiâs smile grew even wider as he slowed to a halt in front of her.
While Taiki caught his breath, Shoutmon took the lead. âHey, youâre looking great!â he said through the Xros Loaderâs speaker. âItâs great to see you again!â Taiki nodded as he drew in another breath. Heâd dashed straight over to the tree she was sitting under and accidentally winded himself in his haste.
âWe were actually looking for you, so itâs great that youâre here!â the young man added once his breath was back. âHopefully we can stay longer this time,â he agreed.
While Shoutmon would definitely have been up to showing his friend around âhisâ digital world, they all had other things on their mind, and it was written all over Kuzuhamonâs face that something had the majority of her attention. Whatever it was, it was definitely far from the stressful situation that had been hanging over her when theyâd first met, and the Digimon King refused to be so rude as to ask something of a friend before finding out what had her in such good spirits.
âYou look like youâre happier than ever!â he commented. âSo, whatâs going on that has your face lit up so bright?â
âThanks, Shoutmon~â she grinned, leaning against the tree again. âAnd are you okay, Taiki?â she frowned, tilting her head in concern for a moment. He didnât have to run that fast, did he? Regardless, she tipped her head back for a moment before looking back down.
âOh, really? What did you need to see me for? âthough I can definitely stay longer, I have the day off today,â she nodded reassuringly. That was unexpected, having them actively seeking her out for something. She wondered what it could be.
As she was asked what was making her so happy, she couldnât help but break out into another grin, resisting the urge to sort of just twirl around happily like a young girl. She almost did, which would have felt silly butâŠ
âWell, I got engaged to Beelzemon the other day~!â she replied, blushing even with as happy as she was to tell someone. Part of her still remained in shock after a couple of days. âIt was the best thing! He and I were just hanging out in the mountains and we were bantering back and forth and he just⊠said it so casually, I didnât believe him at first. But he was serious and- Iâm going to get married!â Kuzuhamon said.
âAhh thereâs going to be a lot I have to do before that happens, though. Like defeating the Demon Lords so Bel doesnât have to endanger himself anymore. Buuuut⊠I can wait. Anyway, what did you guys wanna find me for?â
Xros Loader in hand, Taiki stepped out of the house with a quick goodbye to his mother, still thinking on how to find his purple-clad friend. It was a quiet enough day that almost no one was around, so he talked to Shoutmon, who was inside the Loader, as he walked. If anyone asked, he could pretend it was a new model of cell phone.
âThe major problem is, how are we going to find her?â he said. Shoutmon frowned at this obstacle. Twice they had met her so far, both entirely by coincidence. Maybe he could ask Wisemon to create a Digimon scanner function for the Xros Loader, but that would take some time.
Taiki pondered his options as well. They could go to Shinjuku again to look for her, seeing as that was where she seemed to hang around, after all. But would she even agree to their request? As he walked by familiar landmarks - the bridge where OmegaShoutmon had fought Tactimon, the hill they had led the final charge against Bagramon from - he debated the odds of their success.
Within time, he decided to give his legs a rest and plopped down on a park bench. Taking in the scenery might help his mind relax and decide on an effective course of action. It was a peaceful place, one that he always liked, what with the sound of the birds, the lovely trees, the platinum-haired woman in the purple jacketâŠ
Hold on, that last one wasnât a normal park fixture, was it?
He rubbed his eyes just to make sure. âYou have got to be kidding me,â he said to himself, dumbfounded at their luck. He blinked a couple times, and still she was there. They couldnât possibly be this fortunate, could they? âThird timeâs the charm, Taiki!â Shoutmon exclaimed with laughter, as his partner leapt up from the bench. As Taiki dashed toward the very person theyâd been hoping to find, they both called out her name:
âKuzuha!â
Sitting under that tree had proved to be quite relaxing, and sheâd found herself slowly drifting off after closing her eyes. The breeze felt quite nice that day, and she couldnât help but just want⊠to fall⊠asleepâŠ
âKuzuha!â
Stirring, Kuzuhamon snapped awake at the sound of her name. Two voices, even with only one of the speakers visible, but she still smiled at the familiar figure, rising to her feet even as he dashed over to greet her. It was nice to see Taiki again, especially when their last conversation had been cut short due to circumstances. Delightfully grinning, she clapped her hands together in excitement as he joined her, before she moved her gaze between him and the Xros Loader. It seemed sheâd have someone to tell after all!
âHow have you two been doing? It sucks that we couldnât talk for very long last time, huh?â she laughed, crossing her arms as she smiled at Taiki before continuing. âBecause the best thing just happened to me recently, and I just can barely keep from smiling about it all the time since then,â she admitted. Yeah, she did feel good about having someone to tell about it. That was what friends did after all, right?
Tell each other about these sorts of things?
She did wonder too, how they were doing. Especially now that she wasnât worried about Beelzemonâs mental condition, she wanted to ask a lot of questions of her own. Like learning more about Shoutmonâs Digital World, and more about the Digimon that lived there- it sounded like a nice place to visit. That was, when she had the time and if it wasnât a bother to Taiki and Shoutmon, of course.
But still, looking forward to it⊠She figured it could happen at some point.Â
âTaiki, could you run to the store quick and buy some eggs?â Taiki, whoâd been cleaning the desk of his room, turned at the sound of his motherâs voice. âSure, no problem!â he called back down, stretching out before making way toward the door. âIâll only be a few minutes,â he said to Shoutmon, who was lying on the bed, engrossed in a volume of manga heâd been reading recently. Heâd been getting into reading anything from the human world he could get his hands on, recently.
âNo problem, Iâll just hang out here!â Shoutmon replied, looking up and flashing a quick grin. Once Taiki was out of the house, he flopped over on his back and sighed.
It wasnât bad, having quiet time somewhere away from the digital castle and all the rigors of being a king. But when Taiki went out, he had to either stay home or in the Xros Loader. It couldnât be helped, after all, it wasnât like Digimon could just take the forms of huma-
Wait.
It had been so obvious that it hadnât occurred to him.
âDigiMetamorph.exe, created by Lady Magnadramon of Steel Town. She created it so that those of us Digimon with reason enough to go between the human and Digital worlds would have a disguise and not scare the general populace. Itâs pretty practical, when you donât want people to run screaming from you.â
That was what Kuzuhamon had said, wasnât it? She was from a different digital world, though, so heâd thought it just another one of the differences between the two digital dimensions. But the idea had already formed in his mind, and when the Digimon King had his heart set on something it was nigh impossible to stop him.
If he could take the form of a human, he could spend more time with Taiki, and on top of that he could learn more about the human world with ease. When Taiki returned home from his errand, Shoutmon excitedly told him what heâd thought of. The teenager frowned thoughtfully, turning the idea over in his head.
âWell, I donât know how easy it would be to find her again, but⊠letâs go look for Kuzuhamon!â The partners grinned at each other. This could be the start of something big.
Kuzuhamon was in a delighted mood as she casually traversed the streets. Ever since that moment two nights ago, sheâd just had such a positive outlook on the world lately. And even with Beelzemon back in the Dark Area for the time being, she had more reason to keep confident that he was going to come home. Smiling, she began to hum just a bit as she wove her way through the crowds in her human disguise,
Thanks to her elation, however, she found herself wandering almost effortlessly into a new part of town- or a new one altogether. Damn not being too familiar with how Japan worked in that aspect.
However, even with that, she decided to just go along with it. After all, why let something as silly as wandering into an unfamiliar area dampen her spirits?
Engaged. I canât believeâŠOh my Fanglongmon, thereâs going to be so much to do now, she thought, a faint flush coming to her face at the mere thought of it. But why wouldnât she? After allâŠ
Grinning to herself, she continued along on her walk, taking in the refreshing new sights of the town sheâd found herself in. It seemed a lot different than Shinjuku, with different stores (from what she could tell, anyway. She still needed to learn more than basic traffic signs), strange towers, and an expanse of water that she wasnât familiar with. Even the park seemed a lot different than the one sheâd normally found herself wandering around in.
She kind of liked it, really.
Taking a seat underneath a tree, Kuzuhamon let out a contented sigh as she closed her eyes. Still, for how happy she was, she wished sheâd had someone around to tell. After all, she wanted one of her friends to be happy with her- and already figuring that Gallantmon had already been told by Beelzemon, she ruled that out fairly quickly.Â
