Second of two fics for this prompt. Jeremy's Pokemon Snap playthrough with Kat gave me a lot of comfort when I was sick, so Jeremy gets a fic where he gets to gush about how much he loves Kat with Pokemon in the background.

For the memories prompt, I decided to take two sets of streams/videos and make fics about them (both kind of centered on Jeremy). The first one is focused on Jeremy's old Pokemon Sword and Shield shiny hunting streams, streams that helped me get through some of the worst months of my old job.

So my fic for the second prompt of PR1 Appreciation Month is going to be delayed (been a bit busy), so in the meantime, I thought I'd post something a little different. At some point I started making a small, incomplete list of umas that PR1 members would train if they were in the Umamusume Pretty Derby universe, and since that's the prompt this time, I thought why not show it off along with some of the reasoning behind the ones I chose.
Also, if you're familiar with both, feel free to leave your own thoughts on who would be a good trainer for whom, especially ones that I missed.
Chilled - Biwa Hiyahide: Back when Chilled started playing Among Us, he was constantly looking for little tidbits about his friends to turn into workable information (giggle theory, etc.). Similarly, Biwa Hiyahide is seeking an equation that would help her win races. I think they'd either benefit from each other's company or make each other worse. Plus, they both have a favorite healthy food (broccoli for Chilled, bananas for Hiyahide).
Ze - Manhattan Cafe: Listen, yes, they both like coffee, but that's not it. Manhattan Cafe has a ghost friend and many more who tend to bother both her and her trainer in game, and you can't tell me that Ze, with all his time in Phasmo, wouldn't be a little bit interested.
Tom - Agnes Digital: I was honestly thinking that it was just because they're both heavily into fandoms, but then I thought about it a little more. Tom is a fan of VTubers, and he himself is a VTuber (and a fan of certain YouTubers/streamers and he is both). Agnes Digital is a fan of umamusume racers, and she is an umamusume herself who eventually gets into races. I think they'd benefit from each other's company.
Jeremy - Narita Taishin: Listen, Jeremy would see Narita Taishin being shorter and more pissed off than her peers and go, “Yep, that's who I'm training.” Meanwhile, Taishin would HATE the idea of a short trainer, thinking that people would make fun of her. That being said, I think she would come around if Jeremy told her that he's been through feeling like that, and she'd end up loving having him as a trainer (not that she'd mention it, because talking about feelings is cringe to her).
Kat - Zenno Rob Roy: Kat would walk into the library, see this uma, and they'd hit it off instantly. They'd discuss books they were reading, and Jeremy would have to drag Kat out of that library, but not before Kat asked if Rob Roy needed a trainer.
Matt - Hishi Akebono: I'm going to be honest, this one was entirely because a big joke in old Achievement Hunter videos was that Matt liked doughnuts, and she literally has a bag of doughnuts in her ult.
Kara - Agnes Tachyon: This is a pairing that I think would either get along great or become like oil and water. If things went well, I think Kara would be a valuable asset to Tachyon’s research, and Kara could really help Tachyon fulfill her potential. If they didn't, however, these two would want nothing to do with each other.
Larry - Ninshino Flower: You can't tell me that Larry wouldn't see this absolutely tiny child and his dad instincts wouldn't kick in. Plus, I think it would be very funny if he was flirting with, like, Speedy or something, and then Flower walks up and Larry immediately goes into “child in the area” mode.
Kruz - Super Creek: Kruz likes moms, so she gets the horse that likes being motherly.
Cheesy - Gold Ship: This is another one that I feel like could potentially be an oil and water situation, depending on how Gold Ship reacted to Cheesy going along with her weirdness (and providing some of his own). Best case, Gold Ship thinks that Cheesy is fun to hang out with, and they do shenanigans together. Worst case, Gold Ship rejects him (possibly with a kick to the head).
Tay - Vodka: Listen, they both like being cool, and they're both pretty chill until you get them around one specific person (Chilled for Tay, Scarlet for Vodka). I think they'd get along, and even understand where each other is coming from.
Junkyard - Maruzensky: If Junk can keep his “old perv” tendencies to himself, I do think that Maruzensky would end up his trainee. Her 70s vibe would be something that Junk would totally get.
Speedy - Seiun Sky: Seiun Sky seems like she's lazy and doesn't care, but she hides being crafty and wanting to win behind that facade. Similarly, Speedy absolutely tries his hardest to win the games he plays with his friends, but he tries to make it not feel like he's trying too hard. I think they'd get each other.
Sidearms - Grass Wonder: Alright, listen, I do think Sidearms would earn himself a ban from any and all URA facilities before he could get a chance to train anyone, but if he didn't, then I think Grass Wonder would be the one he'd end up training. Not just because she would have no qualms handling him if he got out of line, but she's also obsessed with Japanese things despite being an American horse (something she will deny in game). In other words, they both have weeb tenancies.
Platy - Marvelous Sunday: Just go listen to Marvelous Sunday Time and tell me that's not something that Platy would be all about.
Greg - Mejiro Ryan: The only thing I really know about Greg is that he lifts (or did lift) weights. Mejiro Ryan is also a weightlifter, admittedly one who also tries to hide that she likes cute things. I think Greg would help her feel a little less self conscious about that part of her identity while also encouraging her to get strong.
Courtilly - Taiki Shuttle: I gave the woman who loves cows the cowgirl horse whose family owns a dairy farm. They'd be happy to work together.
Skadj - Tamomo Cross: Again, what little I know about Skadj is that he used to be a cook. I figure with his skills in the kitchen, he could probably figure out how to keep the little bit of food that Tamomo Cross can eat nutritious enough to keep her in good health. Also, they would be the type to make biting remarks at each other and laugh about it afterwards.
Apple - Mejiro McQueen: Listen, I know on the surface I gave the British woman the tea and elegance uma, but that's not all they are. McQueen also loves baseball and sweets, and Apple likes being a little bit silly from time to time. They'd get each other.
Em - Gold City: They're both pretty (for Gold City, it's literally her second job), and I think they both understand how hard it is to both be pretty and be taken seriously in their field. Em would totally get Gold City wanting to be a serious runner, and Gold City would actually be able to let her guard down a little bit.
Pasta - Inari One: Sometimes you see a little bit of a character's personality and think “Man, that feels a lot like this person.” In this case, I can see Pasta and Inari One hitting it off instantly.
Aphex - El Condor Pasa: This is another one where I felt like their personalities were so similar that to not pair them up felt wrong.
Bonsai Bros - Daitaku Helios and Mejiro Palmer: I had to give them trainees that felt like they'd train together well, and Helios and Palmer are besties, even using the same style of running. Specifically, I think Sean would train Helios and Travis would train Palmer, but they'd spend most of their training sessions together, so I don't think it would matter that much.
HMC - Mihono Burbon: I know HMC mostly as the “neutral reaction” guy, so I figured the uma with the most neutral reactions would be a good fit.
Bryce - Winning Ticket: I'll be honest, I just wanted to complete the BNW trio (I love them so much), and I figured that Bryce would be the one who could handle Winning Ticket’s outbursts the best.
Later, after they busted the pipe and flooded the ship, rushing through the corridors past the unconscious impostors towards the storage bay, he found his eyes coming back to her: she looked fierce and unstoppable, a true Lady Warrior — one any knight would be honoured to serve.
