An Encounter within the Study
She had hidden half of her own face with the blanket as he drew near to her side, and she watched his movements carefully. What if her room is too much of a pigsty for him to think well of it? Does he even want to be here, or is he just abiding by her words?
The princess stiffened a bit as his bigger body bent over her own to tuck the sheets in like she’d requested, but she relaxed, seeing that he was doing nothing else other than that. When he was finished, she stared up at him, the dim light reflecting off of the eye that was not patched up. For him to call her by her name like that was embarrassing, but not because she hated it.
Bringing a hand up, she reached out for the place above his eyepatch, moving the hair out of the way and brushing it upwards so she can see it clearer.
"That’s good. How long do you want to stay for…Are you tired?"
His blue orbs reflected a sense of warmth and compassion for his princess. As soon as her visage softened, he knew that she was no longer nervous. The male didn’t want her to feel nervous. Not so late in the evening, at the very least. It would please him if she could rest without any worries. With the princess settling into her bedding, he, too, relaxed into the plush cushioning of the chair he sat on.
When he first saw her dainty fingers approaching his face, he visibly shuddered. Shoulder muscles spasmed with the traveling chill up his back. He wasn’t accustomed to anyone touching that area, though it wasn’t sensitive enough to worry over any possible pain being inflicted.
His apprehension was lessened, however, when she simply swept some stray strands of hair out of his face. He cupped her hand in his and held its back to his lips, pecking it.
“I’ll stay with you until you fall asleep. ...I don’t rest at this time yet, so you needn’t worry.”
