Hello beautiful souls! I'm in need of some photoshop help. I want to make graphics for my new community from scratch, but I'm not sure how to go about positioning everything (texts and photos) properly? Are there any guides for positioning on Photoshop?? Thank you for your help, lovelies!

My DO's and DON'T's on gif-making
I have now been on Tumblr for over 3 years and I’ve made gifs for about 2 years. I thought I’d throw together some DO-s and DON’T-s of gif-making. I’ve simplified some of this, but generally this is how I do my gifs and if you follow all of this, you should create decent quality stuff even if you haven’t had much practice yet.
Everybody has their own techniques and preferences so some people might do something completely different to what I’ve written, but I think this seems to be the general practice.
THE BASICS:
DO make sure the files you are going to gif are HQ if possible 1080p, BRay or 720p. Your file size should be over 600mb on a 42-minute episode.
DO make sure there are no logos/text visible Try different frame sizes/cropping margins.
DO use the right width sizes. If you don’t it’ll look blurry. This is a difficult one, as some people use a script for old dimensions and some have accustomed to the new ones. Choose one size and stick to it.
DO NOT try to fit you gif into size. E.g, 240px gif into a 245px
DO NOT stretch your gifs. Ever
DO NOT skip frames. Ever.
DO choose the right speed. I use 0,9-1,1; some people make them a bit faster/slower, but generally this is around where you want to be. Short reaction shots can generally be slightly slower. (NB: different countries have different frame rates so the speed will vary!)
TUMBLR LAYOUT:
DO always double check your gifs after uploading and before closing Photoshop (spelling errors, glitches, doesn’t move etc.)
DO use logical alignment/system when making parallel sets (contrast light/dark, characters, one scene vs other scene)
GRADING and SHARPENING
DO always grade your gifs, because even though they look fine while watching, they’ll look dark and dull on Tumblr
DO pay attention to both skin and background. You don’t want to have a nice background but blue skin.
DO NOT just add a plain colour/gradient layer over ‘gifset + colour’. It means either color isolation or enhancing an already ~blue scene
DO NOT over saturate/contrast/brighten. Less is more. (but different computers have the levels set differently)
DO almost always sharpen
DO sharpen after resizing and before grading
DO NOT over sharpen. It works sometimes, but more often than not it doesn’t. Simple 'sharpen’ once will work just fine 'til you find your own settings
TEXT
DO always double-check your grammar
DO use a common sans-serif font like Arial when making subtitles
DO make sure it’s not too big or too small (comes down to a preference, but for 268px try to stay between 8-12px)
DO make sure the text-alignment is same on all gifs (in the middle and same height)
DO make it clear who is speaking (different font/stroke colours; brackets or cursive)
DO outline your text if the background is too bright (or even if it’s not) (stroke 1-2px will do)
DON’T use very vibrant colours; try to stick with white
DON’T go over 3 rows (2 is better)
You can play more with graphics (colour, opacity, alignment etc), but the rule of thumb is to use up to 2 (max 3) fonts; one of them sans and one of them serif. (=one clean and one 'handwriting’)
Hi! You don't have to answer this if this is annoying but I had a question. There's a drama that I really like but there's practically no gifs for it. So I'm trying to make some to promote it but every time they come out so grainy :_; Yours are so flawless and beautiful and smooth. Do you have any advice? I really want get this right and your gifs are so amazing.
hey, sweetie! I can totally relate to your question. this was also a struggle for me in the beginning (still is, sometimes). I’ll put together a quick guide for you, I hope this helps :) if you have any other questions or something you don’t understand, feel free to drop me another comment!

So here’s the tutorial anon requested last night. Does not have audio because first I don’t have a nice mic I can use and second my voice is terrible so sorry! Tried to go as slow as possible with the visual process so you can see how is done. The process starts with me making the last gif really quickly cause I had done a long video of the whole making gif included but tumblr wouldn’t let me post it..
photoshop I currently use is cs6
the psd used on this edit

sarawat proposing to tine in episode 9
They’re playing Scrubb songs. You can take Pear to see. I’ll think about it. Why? I like it better when you play guitar. It sounds perfect for Scrubb. I’m not so sure about other bands.
the stages of sarawat’s thirst for tine’s chest: a post ↳ sarawat & tine, 2GETHER + bonus; tine not minding it at all…
all that you are is all that i’ll ever need.

She’s never seen Earn so, happy and vulnerable. She’s never had Earn hold onto her hand so tightly that their fingers would turn snow-white. And she knew, she just knew somewhere deep inside despite of her dizzy thoughts that she was falling in love with that her.
You look so wonderful in your dress, I love your hair like that. Ed’s breathtaking voice echoed into the stadium, but Pear wasn’t looking at the singer anymore. She listened to the words that he sang so beautifully, and could feel the missing pieces of her soul be filled while looking at Earn.
She truly looked gorgeous in that dress, she thought to herself, admiring her best friend. And as the song progressed, Pear’s heart was getting weaker, to the point that it shattered in a million of pieces and sent dancing tears on her face. To the point that Tenerife Sea became her most favorite song in the world. To the point that she was ready to confess her love to Earn on the spot, but she never did.
