"Books are better," Talia stated, grinning. She thought back to her own home, and realising the situation was the same with her, and nodded her head in agreement. "I have quite a few favourite books," she said, "But it’s definitely up there."

"That’s true," she nodded before adding, "But in my defense, I had no idea there was a book." It was a weak excuse on her part but a true one. "What would you say your number one favourite is?"

Talia was taken aback by the question, suddenly forgetting every book she had read. "Now there's a difficult question. " She said with a small laugh. "Oh, I don't know, An Imperial Affliction maybe? It changes quite often actually." She admitted sheepishly. "What about you?"

"Yeah there is." Talia enjoyed watching old movies and reading old books. "That’s such a great book." She said, glad that they had found something to talk about, "I’ve read it a few times actually, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!" She said, becoming more relaxed.

"If it helps, I watched Jane Eyre," she said with a chuckle. "Really? That’s ace, all my friends back home haven’t read it so I was left alone with no one to chat about it." For the first time today, she was actually excited about something. "Would you call it one of your favorite books?"

Talia felt herself calm down as Kai spoke, but was unsure if the girl would know of the book as she didn’t know is her family were magical. “Oh,” She said, smiling, “It’s an old one, you might not have heard of it.” She realised that she hadn’t named the book and mentally sighed. “It’s called Jane Eyre. What about yours?” She asked smiling.

"You’re right, I haven’t heard of it before. Wait, is there a movie based on the book?"  Kai’s always been a big movie junkie and she remembered seeing the title somewhere in her collection. "It’s called An Imperial Affliction. I just started it but I heard it’s pretty good.”

"Thanks." Talia said softly. She hoped she hadn’t intruded, as the girl seemed absorbed in her book, and she knew that she didn’t like to be interrupted when she was reading. She took a seat and rested her own book on her lap. "I’m Talia, it’s nice to meet you." She said quietly.

"It’s nice to meet you too," she replied, feeling as though she was talking loud since Talia was so quiet. After placing a bookmark where she left of, she noticed Talia had a book of her own. Curious, she asked, "What book is that?"

"Yeah," she replied while giving the girl a nod, leaving her feet from the seat across from her. There were plenty of seats available for her to take. She was just about to continue reading when she remembered the prior promise she made to herself. So, she decided to introduce herself—might as well make friends here. "I’m Kai, by the way," she said.

Christina put on her most pleasant smile and took the offered hand. “I’m glad to meet you. And that you’re okay,” she added quickly.

Really, everyone here was either crashing into someone or being generally awkward, and Christina was finished with it. Still, that was no reason to be unpleasant or unkind. Each of them surely needed a friend, and why should it not be her?

"So, how is your day so far? Falling aside, of course?" She let out a short giggle, a very practiced and intentional one. To her, everything was a dance. The right actions at the right time, she’d found, could get you almost anything you wanted.

Shaking the girls hand softly, Talia smiled, and felt glad that she had fallen in front of aomeone who wasn't going to be cruel or mock her. Well not out loud anyway.

"I'm glad too! I think I need to pay more attention." She said, laughing nervously. "My day has gone well, thank you. It has been my first time seeing anything to do with the wizarding world and it really hasn't disappointed! How has yours been?" She had tried to tone down her huge adoration for it as she didn't want to seem to enthusiastic and scare away the first peraon she had spoken to.

Feeling a presence watching her, Kai looked up from her book only to see someone standing in front of the compartment she was currently sitting in. “Can I help you?”

Talia had been dreading this part for days, she did want to make friends, but wasn't looking forward to have to speak to people. She paused outside a compartment with only one girl in it and hovered, trying to pluck up the courage to speak. As the girl spoke she bit her lip. "Uh, sorry, do you mind if I sit with you?" She asked.

That girl was a klutz. Noted.

Despite not wanting to be bothered, Christina stood and moved toward the girl, not so fast that she seemed panicked, but quickly enough that she wouldn’t seem indifferent.

"Are you okay?" she asked, touching the other girl’s shoulder to establish contact. Maybe it was a bit manipulative, but allies were a good thing. "I hope you didn’t hurt yourself. I’m Christina. Can I get you anything?"

Talia felt a little sick, but telling herself it was just embarrassment she smiled softly at the girl, "I'm fine, thank you for asking though.. yeah I'm fine."

She guessed the student was also a first year, and slightly hope she was, as that would make falling flat on her face somewhat less embarrassing.

'The first person you've spoken to and already she probably thinks you're an idiot' Talia thought, scolding herself. She awkwardly held out her hand and tried to act confident, (100 percent sure it wasn't working.) "I'm Talia, Talia Moore."

Christina had a fantastic day. She got her wand, she already had a boy wrapped around her finger, and he was actually cute. Things were good.

Now for the packing, but that could be handled by the elves. She would supervise, make sure they didn’t mess up everything, but they were generally well-behaved and thorough.

That was when she got home, though, and home seemed a far ways away. With lines into the streets and children running rampant, shopping was slower than it usually would have been.

Still, it had been fun, and even relaxing, though she figured she was in the minority with that.

A noise to her left made her jump suddenly, and she turned to see what was happening.

Talia was starting to get tired. She had been told ahe could go off to explore alone and had spent most of the day wandering around the alley and picking up school supplies when she saw them.

She had found herself in awe of the wizarding world, and was glad she had chosen to head off alone as she had the chance to appreciate it fully. Her personal favourite had been Ollivanders and she felt proud of the wand now in her possession.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she tripped, most likely over someone's foot, and landed on her knees. Sighing, she picked up her bag, and stood hoping no one had seen her. She scanned the crowd and felt herself blush when she realised someone had seen her and was still watching her.
