I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there — things that will get taken down on any other platforms — and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.

and no, this isn’t me saying “write that messed up, disgusting thing” because while, yes, write it if it’s what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered “vile” to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.

Everyone has their own opinions on Sammick and what dynamics work best and I just want to put my two cents in here.

I think Remmick should be a pathetic stray dog begging Sammie to just look at him once.

And he should be the terrifying wolf with everyone else.

Sammie should be put off because duh, but Remmick should be doing his best to get his attention. Does it work? Most of the time no, but just one or two smiles and eye contact would make his entire goddamn day.

Remmick should worship Sammie and Sammie should be the most normal dude in the world. His music should be absolutely magical because duh, but his personality, his reaction to Remmick and his off putting behavior should be like how an actual normal person would react.

And Remmick shouldn’t care. He’ll take steps back but he would be soooo damn determined to get Sammie’s attention and to win him over in some way. He should for sure be giving Sammie his scary dog privilege. Beg Sammie to accompany him to do errands and follow behind him looming over everyone else, his eyes red and sharp teeth flashing only for Sammie to turn around and see him doing his “aw shucks” act like nothing is wrong.

And Sammie’s not an idiot, he knows Remmick’s doing it, but this guy isn’t afraid to drop his cousins’ names if it will get him somewhere, so he’s using Remmick to his advantage. Maybe he can walk more safely down the street with a white monster at his back. He’s not a big guy so it’s probably nice to not have to fight to prove his worth, to not go the extra ten miles that will get him where he wants to be.

And Remmick’s not an idiot either, he knows what he’s being used for. But he’ll take ANYTHING Sammie will give him.

Remmick will make himself into whatever Sammie wants him to be. He’ll shrink in the face of Sammie’s family in friends. He’ll up the Irish and the “oh me, well I’m just doing what’s polite” for Sammie’s mom and dad. He won’t back down with Sammie’s dad, but he’ll play into his Catholic upbringing, say grace at the table so to speak. He’ll be charming to Sammie’s mom and be the fun uncle to his little siblings.

And Sammie won’t leave him alone with any of them. Because he will use Remmick but he won’t trust him.

And you might be thinking, well why doesn’t Remmick just take what he wants? Why would he feel like he has to pretend if it’s not for survival? Because in this Remmick was for sure a filí. But you can’t be a filí and vampire at the same time. Maybe his own power faded over time, or maybe he lost it the second he was turned, but Remmick knows he won’t get to experience Sammie’s power if he does anything Sammie doesn’t like, and if he turns Sammie there’s no more connection to anything. He’ll be alone again, he won’t get to feel home ever again.

And maybe someday it stops being about what Sammie can do and becomes about actually making Sammie happy.

And maybe it stops being about what Remmick can do for his safety and becomes about how nice it is to rely on someone for Sammie. To be supported no matter what it is he wants to do.

Maybe it becomes about actual companionship and less about just a means to an end.

I can't stand a black person who can't handle the idea that other black ppl have agency and freedom from christofascism and don't operate under their fascist ideals of what a black person is supposed to do to maintain a very specific image. Calling shipping "weird white ppl shit" (or calling any behavior you disagree with white ppl shit) for ships that has mostly bipoc shippers is neglecting the hard work they put in to carve out a space in very white dominant communities in fandom. Black ppl are proship, black ppl are allowed to be weird, black ppl can be cringe, black ppl can act outside of the image even you as another black person put on them. Ur just as antiblack by upholding black ppl to very specific standards and ousting them when they don't meet those standards.
