It seems this needs to be said because people in my asks and comments and on my dash have been getting a little too smug recently:

A bad adaptation of a european property existing does not give you the right to suddenly be derogatory towards marginalized people. If you're spreading talking points and posts made by the anti woke twitter crowd because they happen to agree with you on half a point about historical accuracy then please reconsider if this is worth it.

I get that we all like to complain about bad adaptations but if that distaste fuels you to to attack the inclusion of marginalized people in any way above all else then you don't actually care about the source material, you're just a bigot.

People on this side of tumblr have gotten way too comfortable saying rascist/homophobic/sexist/anti woke bullshit for the sake of looking based or owning some fandom teens and I do not want to clap back at them because the last thing I need is to start shit on Tumblr.com.

However I want to make it abundantly clear that my blog, my posts, my asks and my comments are absolutely no place for this kind of talk. If you see my posts as an opportunity to complain about some actor not being white enough or some media pandering to the gays then kindly go and fuck yourself.

In addition to that if I hear one more person talk about adaptations “inserting their agenda” into a myth when it discusses feminist/queer themes or compare two people of colour being in an all white cast to fucking whitewashing or actual racism I’m going to loose it. You realise you can discuss politically motivated changes to the source material in a way that doesn’t push white supremacist talking points right? If you have a problem with the american commercialisation of foreign cultures or badly made feminist points in books you can just complain about that and not go “All those feminists authors are pushing their agenda” and “Imagine if we did whitewashing of Hindi gods instead” and “They include marginalised people for political correctness points”

If you’re not bigoted and don’t support bigotry then you sure as hell are doing a bad job at not amplifying the voices of bigots
