New tv series in the works! Justice for Dave the Laugh!
I hope it gets popular enough that they make a spinoff about Tallulah too.

anyway,. back to your usual queue'd posts.
I was trying to figure out how to explain why Lullah would wear silver jewellery as a werewolf and also how she'd have her ears pierced with superhuman healing and then I realised that those two quirks would be related. She wears silver earrings because they're the only metal that works. If she'd gone for gold or stainless steel the piercings would heal over.
Anyway, just some musings I had while pricing jewellery at the op shop.
for the last time: if there's a sexy naked lady with long flowing hair and MAYBE a diaphanous sheet or flower crown; lots of swirlies and ribbon like curving LUSCIOUS shapes; very lush foliage (acanthus leaves, elegant flowers) and all kinds of fauna ā both especially waterside (lily pads, lotuses, reeds, cranes, dragonflies); lots of green; everything is a lot of iron, stone, stained glass, mosaic, and carved wood; the windows or their frames are very Shaped; the lights are soft yellow; or it's a font with lots of line weight variation; feather tips are rounded; everything reminds you of france, vienna, or japan and something vaguely mediterranean; OR it's literally a Parisian metro station
ā then it's art nouveau
and if the sexy lady has a bob cut or a hair cap and is wearing a column or flapper dress; there's a lot of geometry like rectangles, arches, rays, and diamonds; angels have super sharp wings and a lot of muscles; everything is steel, concrete, marble, gold, and red velvet seats; everything is VERY angular; and all the foliage is basically papyrus fronds; things feel vaguely Egyptian or Turkish or Mesopotamian; the fonts play with being very skinny or very thick and are sans serif with extra lines; or Gatsby would be found floating dead in that pool
ā then it's art deco
And if looks kinda like art nouveau
ā with lots of lush flora, tiny insects (like dragonflies) or graceful birds, stained glass, iron, warm golden lighting, lots of wood and wood carving (but now it's more wood paneling), a stylistic fondness for Japan, line weight variation in the font, and tile (but this time it's carved or sculpted on, not tiny mosaic)
but you're worried it's art deco
ā because the forms (especially foliage) are very symmetrical and slightly more angular or blocky and graphic looking, things are more rectangular than circular or curvy in architecture, the patterns repeat more often, and more of the lamps are pyramids or rectangular, and there are nods to Egyptian or Ottoman style, and they used the color red (probably in an accent chair or carpet rug)
BUT there's no steel, concrete, gold plating or gilding, marble, big muscles, spiky or radiating diamond shapes, angular people, or flappers,
AND the vibes are jacobean, gothic, or spanish mission revival; they love some brick and stone; the wallpaper is an explosion of colorful pattern that could give you arsenic poisoning or help depict a descent into postpartum psychosis in a famous short story; but there are NO people to be seen, not even sexy ladies,
ā then THAT is the arts & crafts movement.
Big Tits was the nickname of Titus Tart who was one of the owners of the Tart-Chestnut Co. That is his likeness on the bag. 1930s

mermay art is going alright
A friend over on instagram requested Tallulah in an early 2000s boho outfit so here she is!
Goblin Princess Lullah is not so great at flying in owl form to begin with and feels very sorry for calling the owlets crap flyers. It's not as easy as it looks.
Tallulah also leaves behind glitter and down feathers when she transforms into an owl and vice versa.

I've recently changed everything around on how this page works, I will be reinserting the scarves at some point too. I just forgot about them while trying to make Lullah's layout like Georgia's so it'd be easier to navigate. There's still a page or two left to do, these are just what I found most important.
Several times on here I've seen the take "I know local theater is bad and cringey, but you have to support it anyway!" And while I understand what they're getting at, I'm always like, why do you assume it's going to be "bad" just because the artists are members of your own community? I just saw a local production of The Importance of Being Earnest and it was HILARIOUS. Everyone was DELIGHTFULLY funny and we thoroughly enjoyed it! There have been so many times I've been greatly moved by "amateur" or student art, and if you can't allow yourself to appreciate anything but "the Best" (and who decides what "the Best" is anyway? This production of "Earnest" was way funnier than the version that Judy Dench and Rupert Everett were in, as deservedly "famous" as they might be) then you are just being a joyless snob. There's beauty and talent all around you. And if that makes me "easy to please," then well... That means I'm pleased more often! And why should I want to apologize for that?
Your local or high school production of beauty and the beast is far more likely to have painted backdrops and hand stitched costumes than the national tour currently running on projections and vibes. Thatās value for your money right there. And the actors donāt just stagedoor; thereās an ihop meet and greet after.
The stagehands in their mismatched black clothes roll the squeaky library set onstage while the piano vamps. A book falls off a shelf; the lanky Beast picks it up and presents it to Belle with a gruff and panicked flourish. She smiles because he loves her and it doesnāt have to be perfect; he just has to try.
High schoolers giving their all to heathers or ride the cyclone. The backstage TikToks and videos where everyone is in character and being silly.
A fifty year old hamlet crying over his thirty year old dad after āremember me- I have swornātā. After some time, Horatio, an eager lad of sixteen, pulls him from those treacherous cliffs and mouthes the cherished lines to his sweet prince where he thinks I canāt see. Word perfect for the rest of the night. I still donāt know if this was stage business or a missed cue but it was beautiful.
guys busting out of fishnets and glitter makeup and having a ball bc theyāve got their whole family seated front row throwing toast at them for rocky horror.
Every little shop of horrors with big lunged urchins who canāt blend and a gigantic plant puppet that knocks the rest of the set over
Iām in the splash zone for swan lake. The music is tinned and itās raining. This will never happen for me again
An ebullient four year old giving extra pizzazz and inner life to the role of ātreeā in the wizard of Oz
Hermia and Helena are making out a lot more than Shakespeare thought they ought in the fifteenth dream youāve seen this midsommar. And yep! Itās set in a cult, weāre all outside and Iāve been given a pie to eat.
When the stage manager turns the house lights back on, Cinderellaās rags will be transformed.
I remember seeing my brother in a pretty low rent Our Town (cast bc he was tall) and stunned at how he was holding back tears by the end. He didnāt want to say goodbye yet and it was closing night.
You donāt often get that connection at the pro level. You donāt get to see people you love like that all the time.
It doesnāt matter who corpses or who blanks or who misses their cue
you have to go and be open to whatever happens.
Sometimes fireflies, sometimes fire alarms. Sometimes snoring audience members. Sometimes you are the whole audience. Sometimes Sondheim. Somehow Strindberg? Just go!
It's been two and a half years since I finished the script for that one comic... oops.
someone please tell me panel 3 looks okay before I scrap it and start again for the umpteenth time
I want to talk to you about sports, but a weird sport that I found out that you play. I donāt think itās legal to play. Thatās probably true. Is it called fire hockey?
every time i see this, ive managed to forget about it and it newly becomes the best thing ive ever seen
Rereading chapter one of withering tights reminded me that I wanted to write a labyrinth crossover where Tallulah was the daughter of Sarah and Jareth. That scene where Connie the owl first shows up brings to mind Jareth's entrance in the movie, and I kind of want to make Lullah a goblin princess. Just for fun.
This bit in A Midsummer Tights Dream where Cain and Beverley are arguing under Lullah's window once again made me think of Goblin Princess Tallulah. And then she goes on to say she "may be part owl" when she's just saying nonsense out of spite and this whole crossover is based around Jareth being an owl sometimes.
Mildly prophetic half-fae Lullah who just says the first thing her subconscious brings forth and is suprised when it happens.
