a 90’s kid? don’t you mean sad adult?
70,000 people have reblogged this but no one is trying to defend themselves
There is nothing to defend
#i read a post once that described 90s kids as the generation of nostalgia #because so much technological advancement happened in such a rapid timeframe when we were growing up #that we can clearly remember having technologies that are now obsolete #like going from a corded hugeass phone to a small computer in your pocket just within our formative years is a major thing #and it sparks a nostalgia for our seemly ‘simpler’ childhoods #because so much rapid development makes it seem like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was (x)
This is the most solid explanation of our decade I have ever heard.
Oh my god
Just to add onto that, our childhood wasn’t even technology based. We grew up knowing of chalk, skateboards, jump rope, street hockey, playgrounds, butterfly collecting, etc. Slowly technology took over our lives and now there are hardly kids playing outside in the summer. We can clearly remember our childhood as it was and now we can see the clear line between it. We were the generation right smack in the middle of it all. Our parents were of non-tech and our children/young siblings will be all tech.
Not to mention, ours was the last generation that grew up with all those bright promises of “work hard, go to college, and you’ll have a successful life,” only to find those hopes abruptly dashed when the housing bubble burst. Milliennials have grown up expecting that disappointment, because for them, the problem has been there since Day One.
So 90s kids aren’t just nostalgic…we’re BITTER. And we ache for those days when we could still think that the world was boundless and full of the opportunities we were promised since the first day of kindergarten.
Every time someone adds to this i have too reblog.
This is all true. As much as I love technology and as much as it has changed my life and as much as I would not want to go back to the days before The Internets, there is a lot about my childhood that I miss. But mostly I’m just pissed off because. You see. I was there to WATCH people like my parents (born at the end of the boomer generation) raise two kids in a modest but lovely house with a yard and a dog without much financial trouble on ONE income from a state job (my dad’s). My mom supported my dad financially through law school and they were poor as hell back then, but after he got his job which is EXACTLY THE SAME JOB I HAVE NOW, he was pretty quickly able to buy a house and she was able to be a stay at home mom.
And meanwhile I’m like well uh half my net income every month goes to pay the rent in an apartment and my girlfriend has to also have a job and she pays for our food and it’s hard for me to imagine buying a house anytime soon because my office’s salaries have not been raised commensurate with the cost of living over the years. I will probably be in apartments all my life and while my life isn’t BAD by a long shot, it is not at all what I was promised by the 90s. I am privileged, and I KNOW THAT, and it is STILL not what I was promised by my parents’ generation. And then I think about all the kids in my generation and younger who have it or will have it way worse than me (I have no student debt but my brother sure does for example!!!) and I am even MORE BITTER than EVER BEFORE. I just don’t know how we’re all expected to make it in this world, and it’s a huge difference from the “you can do anything!” mantra we all learned.
Is it any wonder why “90s kids” view our childhood years of cartoons and the Disney Renaissance and weird huge phones and all that strange candy and slap bracelets and whatnot with rose colored glasses?

the curse of the black pearl vs at world’s end
I love this because you have Elizabeth who couldn’t even defend herself in the first one to becoming this master sword fighter and leader of ALL pirates. You watch Will who was just this angsty little brat head over heels for Elizabeth become this grown man who faced all his demons.
and then there’s Jack
“Elizabeth who couldn’t even defend herself”
Do you mean…
Elizabeth who improvised a weapon when pirates invaded her bedroom
Elizabeth who could have run for the exits but instead went straight for the swords
Elizabeth who demanded to speak with a pirate captain and then used the leverage she had to get him to agree to her demands
Elizabeth who CAME AT BARBOSSA WITH A GODDAMN KNIFE and then fucking STABBED HIM when she couldn’t get away
Elizabeth who was trapped on a tiny island with nothing but crates of rum and a man she couldn’t stand and who used those supplies to summon a rescue party for herself
Elizabeth who made a rope out of sheets and climbed down the back of a ship to save the day herself when no one would listen to her about how dangerous the pirates were
Elizabeth who snuck onto the Black Pearl, knocked two cursed pirates straight off their ship, and rescued Jack’s entire crew
Elizabeth who rowed straight back into danger without any backup instead of running away with everyone else
Elizabeth who came to Will’s rescue with a blunt object and a one-liner
Elizabeth who proceeded to team up with Will to take down all the remaining pirates in the cave
Elizabeth who – without being asked or told what was going on – faked unconsciousness to create a distraction for Will’s rescue of Jack
Elizabeth who stepped in front of a ring of muskets, successfully protecting Jack and Will from being shot or captured
Elizabeth may have learned some impressive sword tricks in the later movies, but she was a Badass from day one.
fuck yeah!

My first Blossom Vox Box
I was pretty pleased about receiving my first Vox Box. I received all products free for testing purposes and I have to admit I enjoyed a good majority of the products. My favorite thus far is the Hair Food Shampoo by Clairol Care Collection. I received the Strawberry Ginger build up control. My hair does feel cleaner but I would like to see how it pairs with the conditioner because it does dry out my air quite a bit but my hair is weird. I do also enjoy the NYC City Proof Eyeshadow. This was really practical for my life. I'm an on the go kind of girl and value 15 more minutes of sleep over 15 minute of putting on make up. But this put eyeshadow in an easy thick pencil tube that made as easy as a couple of swipes and TAH-DAH - all done! Plus the color they gave me (a nice light brown) help aid in a natural look and I really thought that was awesome. Beanitos also came in the box which if I were to sum it were potato chips made with beans. It had the texture of corn chips but I felt were far more appetizing. Definitely far better than just a plan ol' potato chip. Bear Naked Granola was pretty tasty well the Sea Salt Caramel Apple one was. I can imagine it crumbled on top of an apple crisp. The other one I received was coconut almond curry - which I didn't like but it wasn't awful. However there were a few things that I probably would not buy or consider again. Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs, is essentially what it says - a make up for your legs. I found this product to be terribly pointless and rather awful. It left a yellowish residue on my hands which you needed a scrub brush to get it off of you because it's waterproof. And though my legs did look tan - it's fake and it made me self conscious that I did a bad rub in job. Also not to mention I'm a bigger girl so I need a lot of it and they only supplied me with a .75 fl oz Nasoya Pasta Zero looks and reminds me of everything I've ever witnessed in a Science Fiction film. If you can get past that fact that they look like brains and have a crazy earthy smell when you open the bag - then you'll be fine. However as much as I wanted to get past all that and like a pasta that was only 15 calories and 4g of carbs per serving I couldn't. It's a great product and there is a market for it, but for me as an Italian girl nothing can replace my homemades and carb filled family dinners. Lastly, I haven't had much time to use it because where I live is rainy and cloudy more often than sunny is the Australian Gold 30 lotion sunscreen. It smells perfectly fragrant and I can only imagine that it will work beautiful. This week I hope to try it out - if not then I'll pack it with me when I go on vacation. If you would like to test products for free check out influenster to be a part of future Vox Boxes at www.influenster.com.
