This blog features multifandom (even I try to minimize my involvement in), crossovers of my favourite franchises, Canon x Persona/Self-Insert ship and sometimes possible mature/smut fanfics! Plus I can be very annoying. If you don't feel comfortable with this stuff, you can leave or block me.

I heavily ship romantically myself with Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad/Ibn-Umar from Assassin's Creed and I'm okay with other self shippers of my F/O, but if you feel jealous/uncomfortable with my selfshipping with him, you have the right to block me.

Ezekiel from Total Drama is my and Alty's adopted son.

My blog is excluded from Tumblr searches and recommendations because I don't want to force random people to looking at my stuff.

SCAM ALERT

I just received a DM from a user claiming to have "Falsely reported" my blog because they were "scammed" by a different user they thought was me. They asked for help in resolving the issue, and they were very apologetic in their tone. This disarmed me at first, but I'm not the type to immediately trust unsolicited inquiries like this, so I asked if the profile that "tricked" them was still up. They said no (red flag number one).

This user then provided (fake) screenshots of an email they supposedly received from Tumblr support after they "realized" the reporting of my blog was fraudulent, detailing how my blog was supposedly going to be deactivated unless the issue was resolved. The user then went on to try to get me to contact Tumblr support on Discord (red flag #2), to resolve the false report issue, trying to scare me into clicking the link by saying they don't want my blog to be deactivated over a mistaken report.

I then promptly went to Reddit and sure enough, this is a known scam that has been going around Tumblr recently. Users will fall for this scam by clicking the link and contacting some random person on Discord claiming to be Tumblr support, who will have the victim change their emails and passwords and then they will promptly be locked out of their account by the scammer.

Tumblr Support does not have a Discord. You will only ever contact them through Tumblr itself. If a random blog DMs you with a story following this general script, block and report them. The blog that contacted me didn't appear at first glance to be a bot. It had posts, a real profile picture and description, and had been following me for a year. I think it was probably a real blog that had been hacked via the same scam. Do not fall for this and stay safe out there, everyone!

I made a nicer Tumblr export/backup tool

In the aftermath of Automattic's latest round of layoffs, I learned that Tumblr's built-in exports are somewhat lacking for those of us wanting a truly portable backup solution. So, armed with vague notions of what a better option might look like, I decided to try and build it myself!

First off, I want to acknowledge all of the many lovely folks who helped this little project along--thanks so much to everyone who liked and/or reblogged my posts, shared feature suggestions, offered encouraging words, etc. etc. It's more fun working on a project like this when you think that it'll get used! I hope that what I made will be useful to at least a few of you. 💕

With that, I'm happy to announce that TumblMark is available for download!

Quickly export your original Tumblr posts to a static site with MkDocs and Material for MkDocs. - lilacpixel/tumblmark

The tool is built to run on any computer that runs modern Python, so you should have no issues using it on whatever you have handy. I tried my best to make the README clear and easy to understand, even for folks who've never used command-line software before, but you know how it goes. If there's anything that trips you up as you're working through the steps, let me know here or in a GitHub issue, and I'll make sure it gets fixed. (And, of course, please don't hesitate to report any issues that you might encounter with the tool itself!)

A couple of notes that I thought were worth mentioning:

It's also mentioned in the README, but there's a bug with the lightbox plugin that prevents images from zooming when clicked on the main blog listing and archive pages. I've reported the issue to the plugin's developer, and I'm evaluating other options, but for now, you'll have to click through to the single post view to zoom in on images. 😔

As it goes with these things, I had to make some tough choices regarding what features would make it to the first release. Markdown is easier to work with than HTML, and many people already have some familiarity with it from Discord, Slack, etc. So I tried to favor Markdown-based solutions as much as possible. This meant tabling some features that I'd really hoped to include, like responsive images with srcset. If I have the time and I think there's some interest, I might consider a future version that's built on Eleventy (or another static site generator) with a custom theme. This could add a lot of functionality, but it would also be a much bigger undertaking on my part, so let me know if this is something that you might like to see!

A Tumblr backup and export tool 🐝

A few nice additions in this release: self-reblogs are now linked to the exported original post, and you can now exclude empty self-reblogs from your exports. A handful of minor issues have also been fixed. And there's a sprinkling of something extra in there, for anyone who wants to go Easter egg hunting.
