NEW YEAR, NEW YOU!
I’d like to introduce you to my inner child. Inner child meet everyone. My inner child has seen, heard, and experienced a lot in the last 46 years. Despite this for one reason or another, she’s still hanging in here with me and for that I am grateful.
You may be wondering what an inner child is. Well, Your inner child represents your first original self that entered into this world; it contains your capacity to experience wonder, joy, innocence, sensitivity and playfulness.
So, we all have an inner child. But, this world has a terrible way of taking our inner child and deceiving, exploiting and ruining them.
Traumas of one sort or another have happened to us that in no shape or form are any fault of our own. Yet and still we blame ourselves. We unintentionally and sometimes intentionally, punish ourselves for crimes other individuals have perpetrated upon us. It’s those traumas that have resulted in issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, phobias, destructive behavioral patterns, and even chronic illnesses. We develop complexes and in turn are constantly in why mode. Why did it happen to me? Why was I born this way? Why aren’t I rich? Why am I fat? Why didn’t someone come save me? Why did I wear that? Why didn’t I listen? Why am I so naive? Why did god let this happen? Why? Why? Why?
Well, I say we’ve spent way too much time analyzing and re-analyzing that little three letter word. And while we are constantly examining and cross-examining our lives, like we’re defendants on trial, guess what we aren’t doing? We aren’t living! And life is steadily passing us by. So, how much more of your life do you want to waste? How many more years are you going to sacrifice because you can’t make peace with your past and yourself?
We can be our own worst enemies. We know we deserve to be living our best lives, infact, we want to be living them, yet, for one reason or another, we don’t. Why are we not allowing ourselves to receive our god given rites and blessings?
I believe I know the answers. Although complex the answers can be simple. It comes down to fear. We are afraid of failure, pain, discomfort, effort, success, criticism, and of anything new and different. Why? Because it’s hard to change. It requires action on our part. We’ve lived our lives on autopilot for a very long time but now that we want to take control of our lives we’ re to confront issues that we’ve worked tirelessly to forget. It forces us to experience feelings that we’ve numbed with food, alcohol, drugs, and vice. Change requires us to show up and be present when all we want to do is continue isolating.
You see, It’s about perception. Your perception is your reality. If one perceives they are a victim then a victim they shall be. The same goes for what we keep telling ourselves. Those negative inner monologues. Such inner conversation eventually, affect the subconscious mind, which accepts them as real.
There’s a saying that tells us to trust our struggles. It goes on to say that we need to embrace them and understand that they are there to help us become stronger, more determined people. Well, it’s hard to trust your struggle and have faith that things will work out for the greater good if you’ve been bullied, taken advantage of, isolated, mentally, physically, or sexually abused, raped, the list goes on and on. We can’t allow our struggles to take over us or define us.
We underestimate our power. Because we are here today is testimony to how strong we are. Our experiences are monumental and they are experiences that belong to only us. These experiences shouldn’t incapacitate us; no,instead, they should motivate and empower us. They should create a unextenguishable fire within us to do and be who we were always meant to be. So, Let’s take back our power.
Listen, you don’t have to be afraid. This is our opportunity to create the lives we have always wanted. It’s like pushing delete on all the negatives we’ve experienced and being able to start over again fresh and new. And guess what? You do t have to do it alone because I am here for you. I am going through this with you. My wish is to create a tribe of likeminded individuals whom will come together and support each other on our journey to self realization and love.
